I just don't get why we would bother to 'express an interest' in a player that is incredibly unlikely to be available if we weren't prepared to offer up something fairly substantial. It seems about as useful as me expressing an interest in Miranda Kerr.
But you never know your luck if you don't ask. A friend of mine knows Miranda and she likes short, stocky, bald men. But most men like that wouldn't have the courage to ask her out.

GC would want more for 11 for May. Pick 11 and Talia I would do no problem. May is a massive upgrade on Talia

I'd do 11 for May and run away.

I think you're underrating him a fair bit Gary. His one on one strength more than holds it own against pretty uch anyone else in the league, and his physicality would add a wrinkle we're missing out on in our back six. I think his skill level and marking is pretty good too.

A fairly certain high level 8-10 year defensive prospect for 11? Isn't that way you look for in the draft at ~pick 5? 11 would be a fantastic deal.

By coincidence, so does Marissa Tomei

I don't think I am underrating him, I've acknowledged that he keeps all the key forwards in the competition under check and he is in the right age and experience bracket to be a huge benefit for us. Very few full backs are star players though so pick 11 with something coming back in the 3rd round seems about right to me.
It's probably a moot point anyway because I don't believe there is any substance to the rumour.

Now Tom Hickeys name is being mentioned as a rumour.

Makes more sense. St. Kilda's search for an athletic big man is akin to the Australian cricket team's search for an all-rounder. They've gone through Stanley, Hickey and now Longer, and while they may or may not have the one they wanted they gave up plenty for Hickey. What do you think will satisfy them? He's contracted for another two years and doesn't look like he'll get much of a run at it with Longer the number 1.

From what I understand, Richardson doesn't rate Hickey, and gets very frustrated with the inconsistency of his effort/lack of intensity. I'm not surprised to hear they may be shopping him around.

Just on May - I'd do Pick 11 for May no dramas. He looks a long term key defender to me. They don't grow on trees. He's 71 games in and about to turn 24 - you'd be getting his best years.

Must be only recently as last August they extended his contract.

I'd like to get May but I can't see any way to make it happen. Pick 11 won't get it done, neither will adding a later pick. GC have virtually no tall talent and they won't be letting their only key defender go for anything other than the kitchen sink.

Day would be more attainable, but he's a dud.

Only because they have Scott Clayton as recruiter

Bingo. They have a plethora of tallish athletes with no defined position and questionable competitiveness however

It's amazing how much of a mess the list is with all the concessions that they had.
