I don't get the homesick factor at all. He is a grown boy, get over it if you want to play AFL football.

PS: I do get it when players come from a small aboriginal settlement with a different culture, they do find it hard to adapt to the big city life and complete change in culture and lifestyle.

But they are the ones who just quit the game and go home. McCarthy is certainly not in that category.

Hopefully the tour includes downtown West Footscray on the itinerary. I will let you know if I spot him.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

There are a number of clubs who are trading away next year's picks in addition to this year's picks for a bunch of player movements that otherwise look pretty like what happens every year.

Talk about inflation. Talk about fools and their money. It could all end in tears.

I am really pleased that we haven't got caught up so far in this madness.

However, if Geelong trade players out they can get access to earlier picks next year as can any other team.

It will be interesting to see how it all pans out over an extended period.

Re: Silly Season (post home and away season trade period) suggestions.

Just an interesting tidbit (which will help to explain how Port can afford Dixon without losing someone), have heard that John Butcher was on around $700K on his last deal and the new contract he has signed has gone back down to the minimum wage. Sounds ludicrous, but that last contract was on the back of a couple of really good games and other clubs came knocking (and to be fair aside his kicking for goal he has got all the tools to seduce you into thinking he could be a gun).

He has been a massive disappointment since those good games a few years ago. I am surprised he was offered a new contract but now that you say he is on minimum, then it makes sense.

Now that the Dees have pick 3, ostensibly to use on Parish, and with the Dons having picks 4 & 5 and being loaded with KPDs, any chance we could make a play at GC's newly acquired pick 6 and have a real look at Francis?

                          Along the same lines...
We're only going to have three picks in the draft. If DMac is a rookie (unlikely), could we try to trade #11 for Carltons #20 & #21? This would make our three picks 20, 21 and 30.

Obviously this would be of less benefit if someone bids on DMac, but it could still work...will there still be quality available at pick 20/21?

Pick 11 and who to get it?
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Sounds like we offered Pick 11 and more for Lobbe, Port called him and asked him about it, he said no.

No idea if that's what actually happened, but I'd be bewildered if we blew Pick 11 AND more on Lobbe who is so very limited.

I can see Campbell playing at a similar level in 1-2 years. I don't get the Lobbe approach either.
