I know it seems harsh and it's not meant to be but I tend to agree. Even if we aren't interested in adding a player now we dropped Jarrad Grant last year to open up a spot for further consideration and I think we should do it again.

Richmond have had a pretty good trade week IMO. Prestia and Caddy will add class and depth to their midfield and Nankervis will probably take over as first ruck and is a good prospect. They'll also stay at the pointy end of the draft by off-loading Deledio. With their already elite bookends, they've started to add some quality (especially in the midfield) to an overall weak list.

Plus they've also cleared off a large salary. It will be interesting to see how they go next year.

They'd be hoping to get Yarran's body and mind right too. Effectively still a new recruit too.

Rumours are he'll struggle to play again. Major off field issues.

              Saw this on Twitter

"The Giants had five picks inside the first 24 of the 2014 draft: Marchbank, Ahern, Pickett, Steele and McKenna."

All could be gone by 2pm today....

              Interesting.

But their drafting has been A+

Scary that losing all those players leaving actually don't hurt them too much, if at all. Teams have given them too much at the trade table for fringe players and the academy system is too skewed in their favour.

But what is now happening is they are now on an even playing field with 42 on the list. If they start getting injuries their depth certainly will be tested.

Without exposure of the players ranked 25 onwards we actually do not know how good they actually are.

Salary cap pressure will also begin to squeeze as well as playing opportunities for the players ranked 25 plus.

I reckon we should be looking at Pickett. He's in the GWS absolute bargain clearance basement.

Meh! They *!*!*!*! up and they will be handed the world. Wait until Lachie Whitfield gets his two year suspension from ASADA. What will the AFEL do then? My guess is they will hold the 2013 draft again so GWS can draft the Bont this time around

Dont worry. The AFEL will organize something for poor old GWS
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

It's lucky for the AFL that they've butchered their picks so badly. A competent recruiting team would've made them invincible for a decade.

They had the first 3 picks in the 2012 draft

#1 Whitfield- Solid player who has some limitations
                        #2 O'Rourke- Bust who's been traded elsewhere
#3 Plowman- Battler who's been traded elsewhere

Picks 5,6,7 were Stringer, Macrae, Wines

They had the first 2 picks in 2013

#1 Boyd- Future star they traded after 1 season for a later pick and a declining veteran
#2 Kelly- Good player but another skinny outside player

Missed out on Bont, Cripps, and Merrret

They passed over Chad Wingard too. Good thing Carlton want all the players who haven't made the grade...

Nice work Crows - trade out Lyons for bugger-all and don't land Gibbs. That will help their shithouse midfield plenty next year.
