I'd imagine right now St Kilda are scrambling to come to the table with something for Wilkie and his management to consider, having burnt all their salary cap on the new arrivals and also significantly bumping up NWM and now Windhager. We've most likely got $1.25m a season (possible a little more) for the next 4 years up our sleeve, which is fully $500k a season ahead of his current contract (which only has 2 years to run). At absolute best and with a lot of juggling of current contracts, I reckon St Kilda might be able to bump him up to $1m a season at absolute maximum and match our 4 year commitment. That leaves our contract offer at least a full $1m ahead for the duration of the contract - is the captaincy carrot worth that much?

No wonder Wilkie hasn't said anything one way or the other publicly.

And that might be a legit option after the preferred players are targeted.

It's the Hawks Jai Serong Mofra is suggesting not Caleb.

Good suggestion. He's been squeezed out with Battle and Barrass coming in.

Surely we may as well keep Jones rather than get May. I don't see us going for May given the culture issues which we desperately try to avoid.

Honestly if it's at the point of looking at May we're at desperation and there's probably not much benefit in it.

Wilkie has skills and experience in Accountancy. He'd be very aware of what an extra million could become if sensibly managed.

The culture issues and age are what concern me most.

In ability, May is streets ahead of Jones. Even now. While May has declined, I think a change of club to a contending club would see him play good footy for at least a year.

If we got Butts, I'd still consider May. I suppose it depends how much faith we have in Buss, JOD and Lobb - I can't say I have a lot, so I'd be prepared to play it riskier.

Stkilda should be looking at the fact that Wilkie is 30 and trying to turn the assets they could get from us into something else that they need.

They may want to keep him but they could also be doing the sums in the background on what it would mean for a pursuit on Flanders, Petracca or Simpkin.

When I heard about our supposed interest in Blanck I watched a bit of Box Hill. He's not as tall, but Serong seems a much better prospect.

Wilkie can play on all types, not just talls. Gun but I still think it's unlikely

I’m not expecting Wilkie, or Butts.
im sure we will either keep Jones or we will scrape the barrel and get a guy like a “serong” type just to show the supporters we tried. Then go into 2026 once again with Buss, Lobb and JoD as our best key backs
I will never see #16 the same!!
