Opening Round

lol I don't think anyone in VIC, WA or SA would have barely realised footy was back. Exact same as last year. I've no idea if the northerners care enough. This year with the cyclone I highly doubt it.
It's an absolute debacle. It kills all the hype of footy being back.
The only discussion at work about Opening Round was about the cyclone affecting it, nobody talked about either of the Sydney games (despite there being multiple Swan supporters at work), I haven't been out and about in town much of late but in my commute and also trip to the airport the only thing i saw notifying people about it was the sign near the SCG warning about parking being busy Friday night due to a "football event".I should leave it alone but you're not rightComment

I live in Sydney (only for another month now though).

I and astounded by Macraes decision to keep playing Daicos when it was obvious he was done and then proceeded to sub out Hoskin Elliott the only forward actually doing anything in the second qtr .
Pendlebury is done as is Sidebottom, too slow can’t chase and are just link players now if they get it .
I personally think leaving Daicos on in that state shows he Macrae has no confidence in his midfield without him . It showed today as well .Comment

Given that the Giants play a good brand of footy it is pretty disappointing to see their consistent lack of crowds. Honestly don’t know how they can survive as a stand alone (without AFL assistance). The AFL does need to do better in promoting the games up here. The fact that you are in RL heartland and the stadium (whilst great to watch footy at) is challenging to get to (on a train line but you need to change 2 to 3 times from anywhere in Sydney).
Anyway, like others, glad to see the back end of opening round. Bring on the real deal.Comment

Outside of footy clubs there seemed to be very little promotion of the games. You would’ve thought both would be sell outs given their opponents.
