It's an absolute debacle. It kills all the hype of footy being back.
It's just all about how insecure the AFL is.
    The curse is dead.

I live in Sydney (only for another month now though).

The only discussion at work about Opening Round was about the cyclone affecting it, nobody talked about either of the Sydney games (despite there being multiple Swan supporters at work), I haven't been out and about in town much of late but in my commute and also trip to the airport the only thing i saw notifying people about it was the sign near the SCG warning about parking being busy Friday night due to a "football event".
I should leave it alone but you're not right

So the afel didn't even try to promote it. Just organised it and hoped it'd all turn out fine.

Pendlebury is done as is Sidebottom, too slow can’t chase and are just link players now if they get it .
I personally think leaving Daicos on in that state shows he Macrae has no confidence in his midfield without him . It showed today as well .
I think the reason Hoskin Elliot was subed out is because he did his back before Daicos started to cramp as badly as he did , it wasnt tactical it was forced , but i do agree whith you re Pendlebury and Sidebottom , im not sure id go as far as to say they are both done but i did notice that both did get tackled more then usual , and hence their disposal was not as good , obviously they have slowed a bit and players are getting to them before they can get their kicks away efficiently .

Outside of footy clubs there seemed to be very little promotion of the games. You would’ve thought both would be sell outs given their opponents.

Given that the Giants play a good brand of footy it is pretty disappointing to see their consistent lack of crowds. Honestly don’t know how they can survive as a stand alone (without AFL assistance). The AFL does need to do better in promoting the games up here. The fact that you are in RL heartland and the stadium (whilst great to watch footy at) is challenging to get to (on a train line but you need to change 2 to 3 times from anywhere in Sydney).

Anyway, like others, glad to see the back end of opening round. Bring on the real deal.

I was surprised yesterday, Pies kicked the first of the last quarter and I could hear a GIANTS chant on the radio. I don't think I've ever heard a giants chant before.
