Re: 2018 AFL -Trade Rumours and Discussion

SYDNEY has been linked with a shock play for West Coast Eagles star Andrew Gaff this trade period.

A rumour swirling through football circles suggests the Swans have jumped into the race for the All Australian midfielder — ignoring reports North Melbourne has already offered the 26-year-old a deal worth up to $7.7 million...more please press link.

Apparently Geelong are looking at Stephan Martin and he might not want to be third fiddle.

I wonder if that rules Norf out of Gaff.
Polec goes to North, where he wants.
If so, WCE trade out Lycett to Port on the money Port have freed up. (Lycett wants Port)
WCE maybe look to Adams to replace McKenzie as a KPD (different role, yes) (wants a trade anywhere) and Roughy to replace Lycett (Roughy toured WCE facilities)
Gaff nominates us, so all the players are going where they want. Then maybe the stars align for a trade to the dogs. Maybe.

Polec has been a certainty for weeks, strongly doubt it makes any difference to Norths offer to Gaff.

Money, and also trade currency. I have my money on WCE trading on Gaff, threatening to match any offer. Between Polec and them taking Tarryn Thomas to drain draft points, I don't see what they've got to trade. Unless they surprise with someone. Their first rounder next year wouldn't suffice. If we can make a close enough offer, WCE would want to deal with us I imagine or Sydney.

Is Polec a FA? If not, what is a fair trade for Port and North?

I hope you're right but I just don't see one skerrick of evidence linking us to Gaff or any reason Gaff would choose us.

If West Coast do match do they need to demonstrate they can fit the amount in their salary cap? Because the extra 400-500k per year North are supposedly offering could sink them. When Dangerfield went to Geelong it wasn't on the crazy money we are talking here.

No not a free agent. Port will want North's first pick, North won't give it without something back or some sort of pick swaps that give them the points to draft Thomas I would think.

The legends were true ... Steven May has formally told the Suns he wants out to Victoria.

Unfortunately the Pies seem to be the destination.

C'mon Sam Power, give him something to think about.

Would be a huge get, but I must admit I think about his hit on Stefan Martin and I'm not sure I want a guy like that playing in my team.

We've tried to trade for him, unsuccessfully, about three times so far. Fourth times a charm.

Yeah but what about playing against him?

Has the stumbling block been his employer's unwillingness, or his? If we're fair dinkum, now's clearly the time to move.

As for his hit on Martin, was certainly brutal and high, but the result of a tucked in hip and shoulder rather than something more dastardly.

I'd unapologetically love him patrolling our backline.
