Excellent rhyming DOTW. Agreed, but all things Bruce pretty much annoy me.

Australian Rules Football is an impatient bugger that waits for nobody. Collingwood have been and gone, and are losing to possibly the most mediocre second best team the competition has seen in a long time. I think back to 2007 and 1993 as being very soft years for top end talent in the competition. This year is matching those.
    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Beg to differ Chops. Swannies are injury free, have a settled back 6, a plethora of tough inside mids, and some silk on the outside. Hawks deserved favourite but will be tight next week - Sydney never get blown away.

I'm waiting for Hawthorn's tight kicking game to be exposed. Funnily enough, I think they're such a tough side that wet weather would almost gaurantee them a grand final berth, though if they revert to their precise kicking game they could leave themselves exposed to a bad night on the tools with Adelaide getting the ball to their taller forwards.

Sydney are a very well disciplined team, and they have some very dedicated inside midfielders. They'll always make the game closer because of their personnel, though they really don't have enough elite talent to take them all the way.

The three sides that contested 2009 in St Kilda, Geelong and ourselves would smash any of the other top four sides this year.

Massive respect for the Swans. Complete rebuild without bottoming out. They have been competive throughout. Great footy club.

                  Jealous.

Swans smashed the Hawks earlier in the year in TAS.
They will win, be to tough and will shut down the Hawks.
Disciplined, and well structured with good blend of players and experience

They will just need to kick straight.

                    Go Swans! hehee
Dont know any Swans supporters here in Melb so at least i wont hear about it if they win!
Hawks fans think they had the premiership in the bag half way thru the season!

Collingwood just making up the numbers this finals series, lost comfortably against the two contenders and got a consolation win in between. Their shift away from defensive pressure, strong structures, and an even contribution, to a more attacking style that relies on individual contribution was just asking to fail in September.

This is the big misconception about Sydney. They have ample elite talent and a number of match winners to boot. They smashed Hawthorn in Tassie early in the season and then just fell short a month ago in probably the best game of the year. They are in it up to their eyeballs.

The result flattered collingwood to be honest.
Buckley's done well with all the off field problems.
Sydney have the best "team" defense in the comp and will trouble Hawthorn next week.
The 09 draft and trade period was mammoth for them, they lost Jolly but gained Mummy, Kennedy Mcglynn, Rohan, Jetta. The extra cash in the cap has helped them though.

Agree on Morton but Pike is one of the better 2nd rucks in the comp this year, and LRT is much better than his reputation as a spud - he's certainly much better than Tom Williams.

Morton will probably make way for McGlynn next week anyway.

Sedat, we comprehensively smashed Hawthorn in Tassie in 2008. But when it came to playing at the pointy end of the season we were caught napping in the qualifying final, and simply weren't talented enough to push Geelong in the prelim even though we had enough chances to impact the scoreboard throughout the game.

Who are the elite Sydney players? I can name Goodes, Kennedy, Richards and maybe Jetta, though that's about it.

I enjoyed watching Sydney's overlapping run and also their ferocious attack in every contest. Kudos to Horse for evolving the game plan and making them much more entertaining to watch than the Swans were under Roos.

Also well done to Jetta for having the courage to keep taking the game on and for relentlessly attacking and taking risks. Not the Jude Bolton type of courage, but just as important and gutsy.
