Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
WADA to appeal the Essendon decision to the court of arbitration for sport. Interesting.

McDevitt ought to be made to fund this appeal out of his own funds. This has now gone beyond justice and into cruel and unusual punishment. A police officer should never ever have been put in charge of this investigation. There is a reason why we have a seperation of powers.
WADA is a joke. Its completely lost the plot. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
First thing I thought.
It's a pretty simple question we all need to ask. Do we want a clean sport free of performance enhancing drugs or not? I definitely do. WADA are the global watchdog entrusted to try and keep all sports clean - without them the likes of Lance Armstrong would still have 6 tour victories. I'm personally very glad they have the chance to review once and for all whether or not Essendon have cheated, and through a process that will not be artificially tainted or manipulated by hopelessly conflicted organisations like the AFL and various media outlets.
The great irony in this case is that the shredded evidence was what got Essendon a reprieve at the AFL tribunal, and this lack of evidence is likely to have the opposite effect in the CAS. Worth remembering that Armstrong was ultimately charged on circumstantial evidence and never once failed a drug test."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

Twodogs, they haven't even been involved in this case until today. By all means pot ASADA for being inept/lacking resources but this is the first time WADA has stepped up to the plate."Look at me mate. Look at me. I'm flyin'"Comment

What we could hope for is strong criticism of the Essendon regime and the AFL's handling. In particular the rushed sanctions handed out in 2012/13.Comment

Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
Wasn't it WADA who pushed for McDevitt's appointment? I thought I remember hearing or reading that somewhere.
My problem is that the process has gone past justice to politics. What matters from here on in is point scoring and positioning. Those things have no place in a justice system. They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.Comment

Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
Here is the point, the AFL tribunal said you had to prove which drug was taken, the new court just has to be convinced the players knew what they were taking and have evidence of what they took and they can't.
This isn't a group charge it's individual, every player must have paperwork or proof of what they took and they already have said they don't have any evidence to prove what they took was legal, there fore they will be found guilty because you can't just say you have no records.Bring back the biffComment
