    Re: List Management 2015

We must really want to either hit the draft hard or will trade multiple picks for a player.
Otherwise I don't get delisting a guy who played 19 senior games, in an age bracket we're short of, just to use an extra 4th round pick in the draft.

Suspect and rather hope it's this, for trade period manoeuvrability.

The situation's bemusing after what amounted to a career year - for Grant - but if it helps us address a more pressing need I can understand why we might sacrifice a bloke who'll firmly be in our last six picked all season.

The biggest blunder there is Tim Walsh and Ayce Cordy. We were forced to pick Ayce as first pick due to a). Saints and b) stupid rule changes by AFL with father sons. Otherwise the rest of the players have played a lot of AFL.

          And the flips:

          Penny for pick 17 Faulkner
McMahon for 17 Cal Ward for Jackson Macrae
          Power for not much
          Cooney for Hamilton and Biggs
          Gryphon for Boyd
Ray for Liam Jones - for 46 Caleb Daniel

Yep that is what list management is about.

18 year old kids can be gun juniors but as they grow their body, their attitude etc can change, so we shouldn't put too much pressure on the number one picks, especially if the pick is higher than 10.

Zac Clarke signing a one year deal with Freo. I guess that BF rumour about the Bulldogs interest in him can be put to bed.

So that makes Clarke an unrestricted FA in 2016? Freo either play him and decide he is the future or he is off I guess

Given he's signed just now, I'd say we (and a few others) were most likely sniffing around.

Keep thinking back to Stevo's pronouncement a few weeks ago that we had a first Ruck all locked up. If this is to be correct (it was Stevo and he stated it with confidence), the options are running out. I'm starting to think the most likely candidate is Tom Nicholls of GCS.

I've heard from others since then that GCS and us have had some extensive discussions in recent times.

Or that Steveo went too early and we don't actually have anyone 'locked up'. I like Steveo, but he's a journo after all.

And a very optimistic one when it comes to us as well.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Seems alot of speculating from Stevo, but nothing is a done deal till the paperwork is signed.

I get your cynicism but he just said it with such certainty and he is the one journo that has the best Bulldog connections. May lead to nothing, but on the other hand I will not be in the least surprised if, come trade week, we announce a trade for a Ruck from complete left field. We are pretty good at keeping deals out of the media gaze.

Grant is a blunder, Ray played a lot but Clayton would want a do over there, Williams? Good servant but a gamble that didn't really pay off. Coons and Griff, gold. Those are very high picks and not one of those high picks are at our club anymore. What ever the reasons their departures have been are we should have had a cornerstone. That's an F. D- if I'm feeling good.
