He does need to get further advice from a specialist on how to deal with the injury, but doesn't need surgery at this stage. Let's hope 8 weeks is worse case.

Was going to post something similar. I was watching on TV when it happened, one of the 7 commentators commented that it looked like a high tear (from where he grabbed), then they built that up to being very bad, then they guessed it was off the bone, which somehow turned into factual info amongst all the sports journo's in Australia even before he had left the Oval.

The Age was reporting on Sunday morning he was out for the season and would be going in for surgery on Monday. No scans done, no specific knowledge of what the injury actually was, and no confirmation he needed surgery, but still managed to draw the conclusion he was out for the season and would be going in for surgery.

They don't even report the news anymore, they just make it up. It's the outcome I guess of the media evolving from news sources to editorial and opinion piece providers.

The club is also in consultation with leading hair stylists for his comeback game.

I think I read somewhere that Clay Smith had re-injured his knee, can anyone confirm or deny this please?

I'm thinking 'leg of lamb on the bone, when you try and wrench the meat off the bone but the tendon hangs on'. So JJ didn't rip the tendon off the bone but there must be 'shredding' of the muscle close to the tendon. How much 'shredding' obviously the critical issue. I trust they'll get it right and err on the safe side because those hammies of JJ's are seriously valuable to the club.

Haven't seen that anywhere. Nothing in google either.

Hun: "Making matters worse, Tom Boyd (shoulder), Matthew Suckling (ankle) and Jordan Roughead (ankle) are also sore from the win over Carlton and will race against time to be fit for the clash against the Lions. Expect Johannisen to be out for 3-4 months after surgery to fix a high hamstring problem. Another defender, Josh Prudden, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in the VFL. It will test their depth."

Imagine a rather cluttered Herald Sun desk with a few dice in the drawer to decide these things.

Oh, in the last few games I've been watching live feed. Heart in my mouth " J. Roughead off injured" and he seems to have played out both games. Come on Roughy.....one....whole....season

Unless he's done something since Saturday afternoon, he was walking about Punt Road Oval unimpeded.

Club website is saying "approximately" 10 weeks for JJ, AFL website "at least" 10 weeks.

I'd imagine looking at the draw and fixturing the bye, he'll be back then
Disappointing, but it's a better case scenario than first reported .
I'd imagine 10 weeks is also factoring in extreme conservatism
