I've shared this on the Supercoach chat post, but might be equally appropriate here as this is a player specific analysis of pre-season progress. Shout out given to WOOF trackwatchers at about the 49 minute mark.

So despite the piblic holiday and extreme conditions you can enter via reception and sit in the Cafe before the players come onto the track. The Cafe isn't open.

Tim English has been put on a modified program due to an abdominal injury. He missed Bulldogs training today, will be in non-contact training in coming weeks + will sit out an intraclub training on Sunday. There’s no timeline on when he’ll be back in full contact

              Injury is from a knock.

hopefully doesn’t take too long and his back training in full capacity soon

Geez hopefully just on the minor end for Tim then. Our big boys are dropping like flies, I guess still a while to go before round 1, but can't take too many more set backs to our important KPPs at this stage.

Gardy rucking in the pre-season matches seems a distinct possibility…

There is a fair chance he will.

English is so important to us. Really sets the tone either in a good way or bad way. A lot of our bad losses last year (Adelaide r22 and Hawthorn Elim final especially) Tim got wrecked early on in those games and hurt us. I mainly put his year down to a limited 2024 pre season so hopefully he can get over this injury and get back to his best. 27 years old and is right in his prime.

A Tim English injury might be the worst injury to happen to the club.

Would prefer to keep Darcy at FF and Lobb and FB. Worried for an undersized and poorly skilled Ryan Gardner vs Xerri in round 1.

Personally I would switch Lobb back to ruck rather than go Gardner.

Tend to agree. It's strange that we don't have another real option but if we assume we won't have Tim and Marra for the first couple of games we have some challenges with team selections.

I understand why we want to keep Lobb back and without Marra forward then Darcy forward makes a lot of sense.

I wonder if something will become evident at tomorrow's session which I assume is still on.

Im a bit concerned that Busslinger doesn't seem primed to find his way into the team. He is a bit of a victim of Lobbs amazing career resurgence but I can't see Jones going too much longer and if we don't get Buss in and tested with a decent run in the 1s it might be something which comes back to bite us in 2026
