    - Can’t hold onto contested marks, agree he has nearly held a few. Cool. It’s not Auskick man, getting your hands to the ball isn’t something we should be proud of.
    - downright terrible 1-on-1, 60% contest loss rate is abhorrent
    - zero penetration or damage with his disposal and prone to unforced turnovers
    - can’t keep his footing, constantly going to ground, missing tackles and just zero agility or athleticism to match up on smalls. Too weak one on one to match up on talls
    - too slow in transition for our game style, hence his low spoils/one percenters numbers because he can never actually cover enough ground to chop out our talls in the air which is his #1 role as a 3rd tall. Hes also slow to make a decision with ball in hand which isn’t a great trait in defence.

What he does well is he reads the play pretty well behind the ball so he puts himself in good positions when we have time to set up. Unfortunately most of the time he doesn’t have time to set up because he’s sooooo slow.

What are we doing here? We’re getting none of the benefits of playing an extra tall and none of the benefits of playing an extra small, but the cons of both?
    I'm with FTW here.
Yes, he gets a few intercepts, mostly due to his good positioning, good on him for that, but they are the type 100s of footballers could get, if they played in that role, on any AFL team. There are 60-70 on offer per game.
Contested in the air, on the ground, big or small, absolute liability.
His disposal is either safe, or scary (Wrong kind), and offers nothing in the launch game either.

Hipwood must be feeling like a kid the night before Christmas, how do we stop him?

11 goals in his last two games against us. I do not rate him at all, but some how he comes good against us. Other than the 5 goal;s against us and 4 against the Saints he has done bugger all. (23 total season to date)

        Lions goal kickers:
        2025 Brisbane Total Goals Leaders
        Name
        1 Logan Morris 16 33
        2 Zac Bailey 17 26
        3 Eric Hipwood 17 23
        4 Callum Ah Chee 16 20
        4 Charlie Cameron 15 20
        6 Cameron Rayner 17 19
Morris will be the difficult match up and great that Bailey is out.

Do we have the courage to design a game plan for this week that is not our way of playing. We need to stop Brisbane and find a way to not let them play their way.

Need to stop Zorko having to uncontested kicks which starts them from back 50
          Stop Neale and McCluggage
          Defend Morris Cameron and Hipwood

Take those 6 out of the game and see how the rest of their team copes.

If we go head to head they are too good.

Bring back the flood from 2000 against Essendon. Do something different rather than going head to head. Their backs can stop our forwards better than we can stop theirs. Adelaide did that last week. Even losing Butts they could prevent our guys but we couldnt stop their forwards.

Hipwood has kicked 22% of his goals for the season in 1/2 a game of football against us.

              Morris is interesting.
Athlete/Profile wise, JOD should be able to at least square off with him. If he can't, he belongs in the Coffield category.
              No excuses.

I just listened to the press conference today and Bevo mentioned a few things.

                * Team changes will have to be based on form in VFL
                * Harmes just returned today and may not play (as mentioned in the Training thread by a few)
                * Buss, Gardy, Jones, Cleary could come in but the MC will base the changes on strength.

My gut feel now is Jones and Cleary will come in.

If Gardner is picked ahead of Buss then Buss should demand a trade. Enough is enough
I will never see #16 the same!!

Agree I am staggered that he would be even mentioned let alone thought off.

There is going to be a wrestle off for spots? I'm all for it, my money is on Liam.

This is not bad, I think that Williams is better value to the side as a winger and that they need to find a way to keep 2 key forwards in the front half. Too many times last week we bombed it to the small running players.

The fact that many woofers don't have JOD coming out this week just goes to show where our defensive stocks are at.

This is how I would like us to set-up but I have some doubts.

                                Backs:
                                Bramble - Jones - Freijah
                                Dale - Lobb - Johannisen

                                Centre:
                                Davidson - Richards - Williams
                                English - Bontempelli - Liberatore

                                Forwards:
                                Kennedy - Darcy - Vandermeer
                                Khamis - Naughton - West

                                Interchange:
                                O'Donnell - Cleary - Sanders - Garcia - McNeil

It's 8 defenders but I would be using Freijah in the middle as well.
I'm not confident about Khamis is it's greasy conditions.
