Always Right Match Committee R24 vs Fremantle Dockers 2025

Welcome to the Always Right Match Committee Thread. The Match Committee threads has been named after long time WOOF member Always Right who tragically passed away in March 2018.

If you were on the Western Bulldogs match committee, what changes would you make after our Round 23 match against West Coast Eagles for our Round 24 match against Fremantle Dockers at Marvel on Sunday afternoon.

For those new to these threads, please give a brief explanation for your changes ... this would add a lot of value to the discussion.

Not that I'm advocating to bring him back in, but did VDM not play in the VFL this week?

Concussion from last week, so no.

            Laith was in concussion protocols.

Hard week for the selection panel. I think if McNeil is out, they have to play Laith - not playing either of them would be a big shift from how we've used our small forwards.

I'd love to play Ads this week, and it probably means a very tough call.

            In: Treloar, Vandermeer
            Out: Sanders, McNeil (if injured).

              Treloar comes in for McNeil

Unsure about our backline composition, Freo has a potentially dangerous forward line in Switkowski Voss Bolton Frederick Treacy and Amiss

Not sure how we could stop anyone after a win like that. Ad with a lazy 40 touches in the VFL. Not sure you can leave home out

so we give Adz another week to settle back in, I still wouldn’t mind Scott getting a run for McNeil and see if hat happens.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

Hopefully McNeil gets up but if not:
In: Adz (fingers crossed his body holds up in a critical game) vdm
                    Out: McNeil Sanders

                      yep.

                      treacy, Amiss, Voss, Fredrick, bolten

                      VS

                      Lobb, JoD, Buss, Cleary, Bramble

this is where the game will be won for mine.

I will never see #16 the same!!

I think playing Treloar off no VFL minutes would be a risk too big to take... but if you play majority minutes in the VFL and give us 40 disposals, 14 contested possessions, 9 clearances, 10 tackles and a goal, how do you not get picked the following week? Because not only has his recovery already been super conservative and safe over the last couple months but he's added a full game of football on top of that and looked incredible.

*Touch wood* Even if we got a half of Treloar against Freo on Sunday and he gets subbed out, that still feels like an upgrade on our field of 23 that played today (and they played great).

It sounds harsh but the more I think about it, the more I think that not picking Treloar is just jumping at shadows. He's either fit or he's not... if he is, play him. Don't act in fear, act in facts.

Feel like we have put ourselves in a corner a bit with the dilemmas of Treloar, Sanders, Croft etc.
Treloar we knew he could do this but the second up risk scares me. I think I’d sub him.
Sanders I don’t think was ever going to star as a sub. His mate Treloar probably replaces him.
Croft was good but the 3 talls did collide a bit and I feel nervous about his goalkicking, in particular in a cut throat game. Do we go back to Poulter? Maybe.
McNeil like pressure is something we don’t want to lose in a cut throat game. I hope he gets up to keep VDM out
Everyone else has earned there spot IMO

We win the midfield, we don’t need to worry about our defence and their forwards

I wouldn't be looking at Poulter as he did bugger all for half a game and only burst on the scene when the game was in the bag.
I think McNeil will be under the gun with only 5 disposals and -13 meters gained he's moving backwards. I like his endeavor, but Treloar will give us a little biy more.
