Matthew Lloyd was pretty strong on Footy Classified last night. He suggested that Marra has repeatedly broken the trust, not just with the Dogs, but with any future prospective clubs - he thinks he has played his last game of AFEL footy.

It was regrettable what Lade said but I don't think it will damage the value of Marra any more than his own actions have done. We have tried absolutely everything to support the player and protect the asset, but you can only do so much.

    Whatever happens will happen.

Lade should have been more careful but if Lloyd is anywhere near accurate with his assessment then Lade's comments don't really factor in.
If Marra has broken the trust of interested clubs then it will be interesting to see what the AFL does?
They won't want to lose a high profile and talented Indigenous player to the game.
Does he draw another years salary and run out his contract? Do we pay him out?
I'm sure many people would take one of those option but ideally we can't have his distractions hanging around the club again next year unless he is genuine that he wants to play again. He probably does want to play but he's currently not 'chips in' on doing all the work that goes with it.

Found what Lloyd said interesting too. Seems like he knows what is going on a bit behind the scenes. Can't believe we are still forced to pay him as well, makes me sick that members are funding him not showing up to work. Hopefully we can cut loose at seasons end. Imagine if we gave him a mega 8 year deal or something like that...

We absolutely dodged a bullet in not signing him to a Naughton type deal last year.

If Lloyd thinks no other team is interested and that’s true , is it better we keep him and just see how he goes in summer training ? I wonder what the deal was that was worked out with the AFL as far as next season is concerned .

800 k is a lot of money to pay someone who's seemingly not interested in footy.

I doubt that would happen. Some sort of early contract termination that's agreed by all parties I expect would happen if he didn't find his way to another club.

I don't agree with Lloyd, someone will take a punt. The question will be : does Marra want to continue?

Lets say JUH puts in a full preseason and does all the hard yards with the team would he be an automatic AFL start round one? That is if he is still with us.

If he did that he should be right in the selection mix.

I agree. I listened to the Lloyd interview and honestly I thought it was hyperbole. I doubt he really knows what is going on any more than I do.

Lade was commenting tongue in cheek about JUH not being able to get a shot in the twos.

Appreciate it’s unhelpful but it’s also nothing at the same time and not anything that couldn’t be fixed easily.

Comparisons with the Stringer situation in terms of trade value are moot, outside of everyone in the industry knowing what Stringer was doing and how much of a ****wit he was, same goes with JUH.

What we see is irrelevant. The industry knows.

I've seen a bit of negative sentiment about Lade's comments.

To paraphrase: "Marra hasn't been training therefore he wouldn't get a game playing VFL."

Ummm...isn't that just stating the simple truth?

If you aren't training, you aren't playing. I really don't get the angst about this.

What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

                              Bevo addressed it today:

Bulldogs assistant coach Brendon Lade believed Ugle-Hagan had "put himself back a couple more weeks".

"The way the VFL is playing at the moment he might be lucky to get a game," Lade told 3AW on Sunday.

                              Beveridge called Lade's comments "tongue-in-cheek".

"I think it was more about how well Footscray are going, rather than Jamarra's preparation," Beveridge said.

                              "'Ladey' will live and learn.

"That's the thing about taking lines like that in different contexts, it can come back to bite you.

"So he's learned an early lesson, if he's hopefully part of that market for a senior coaching job."

And he was not on the track again today. This is the 3rd week he hasn't been able to get onto the track.
I'm not sure he is getting to our games either.
