I doubt that would happen. Some sort of early contract termination that's agreed by all parties I expect would happen if he didn't find his way to another club.

I don't agree with Lloyd, someone will take a punt. The question will be : does Marra want to continue?
Based on this year I highly doubt JUH walks away from what he is owed in 2026.

I am all for keeping him at our club and on our books for 2026 if we don’t get adequate compensation.

Mmm I’m not sure it’s worth it, that $800k could be front loaded across Bont, Naughty, Richards etc contracts in 2026 freeing up $800k in 2027, which in turn could go towards Butters or other targets.

If we think he has no hope of playing next year I think we just cut our losses, the compensation is only going to be less the following year and we’ve wasted $800k of cap space, which is not exactly chump change

If there's a way out of this contractually and it saves us $600k+ then we are obligated to do it.

It's a horrible situation for the club given the time, money, draft capital and energy invested into Marra but the club isn't at fault.

The savings on money, energy and distraction can improve our chances of winning the flag next year.

All I read from that is Bevo is doing the soft shoe shuffle after the Channel 7 fiasco post the Roaming Brian thing...

Here's what I want to say:

"People who think players can roll out and play in a VFL game only think that because their highest level of football is the local u12's. They dismiss the state league footy as a joke failing to realise that pretty much every team has a large contingent of full-time athletes...if you aren't ready to go, you're going to:
1/. Get made to look stupid
          2/. Get injured.

Jamarra hasn't been training therefore he cannot be considered for selection. Seeing guys do 2-3 week 'complete' training blocks before playing a game - players like Adam Treloar in fact - should be enough but it really does feel like the prevailing thought is "Just let the kid play - what harm can it do to roll him out there...he's good enough to kick goals at VFL level even if he isn't fit". That is not the point. He needs to reach a level of conditioning the clubs High Perf team are comfortable with before he plays. Otherwise if he gets injured it's effectively their fault - and he's a multi million dollar asset".

Now - I know people are saying this who have played a lot higher level footy than that so I don't mean it literally but c'mon. What Lade said is 100% harmless and 100% about Jamarra's level of prep. Bevo can say whatever he wants - I don't believe him. Let Lade say what he wants...he didn't give away any secrets - anyone who has been down to training would know Jamarra hasn't been there...

What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

You know. I’ve not brought into this as I’m honestly nit sure what’s what.

But it really about time that JUH, his family, his manager and the club sat down and just had an open and honest conversation about what’s going on and the path forward.

Do a media conference and just move on. Get it out of the way of the finals and give the guy some space.
            BB.

Looking forward - Naughton, Darcy and JUH. It will be the envy of everyone.

All of that was done a few months ago that’s why he went to some sort of rehab place

It was. He just isn't capable at this stage of his life to commit to being a full time athlete by the looks of things.

It's going to be a very interesting off season for Marra.

I’m pretty sure no one wants him around any more to be fair, we’re going into a finals series and need to be full focus. If he wants to rock up and have a crack and show that his interested well he can do that day one of offseason (not preseason, offseason). Until then he’s more of a distraction than anything else, take the extra time off and really get yourself right. But preseason starts the day our 2025 campaign ends and the rest of our list goes on a well deserved break, no ifs or buts.

Under what circumstances can we end his contract? Even the AFL couldn’t countenance his absence for too much longer, surely.

There will be a few options. The AFL will be desperate to get him to another club if they feel he can return to work.
It will be interesting to see if he is genuinely finished with us or vice-a-versa or if a couple of clubs put their hands up and say we want him.

Was weird for Bevo to come out and say that. Slightly undermined Lade and was uber (unnecessarily) protective imo.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Who needs Marra, we have a faster more defensively minded dude as that 3rd banana now. Get what we can and move him on.

                            Absolutely.

If Jamarra is not committed he is just using Salary Cap and List Space.

Jamarra can pick his club and we should just make sure we have no salary commitment.

I'd like for there to be a few options to choose from, to secure the best deal possible.
