Not a great game but he was far from our worst. I guess if you have a thread dedicated to bagging a player then if that player doesn't have a great game they are going to get bagged.
16 handballs in those 23 possessions and plenty of them were short and placed a teammate under pressure - these would've still be counted as an efficient stat.

And the fact that he had so many handballs and still only had an efficiency of just over 70% is concerning - handballing should be the bread and butter of an AFL footballer.

Those stats also don't tell you about the contests that he lost in the air or the ground balls that he fumbled causing all forward momentum to be lost.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Unfortunately for us but good for Eagleton is key injuries will keep him in. Tiller and Reid are both injured. Add Higgins and Murphy and Eagle is safe. This year is really starting to feel like 2007 again.

Good points, I'm convinced. Trouble is who do we bring in to play his role? Perhaps the return of Gilbee and the possible inclusion of Callan would allow Harbrow to take over Eagle's role.

          BEST
St Kilda: Goddard, Riewoldt, Milne, Blake, Hayes, Gwilt, Dal Santo, Schneider, Hudghton
Western Bulldogs: Boyd, Hargrave, Cross, Ward, Minson, Eagleton

          Haha what a joke

Going a bit against the tide here... I thought particularly early, that some of Eagle's tackle efforts were good. I'm not going to jump on him. Eade said in the pre-season, the improvement would come from players in the middle age bracket, he didn't say the old blokes. Yes, I know, he has a role, he's not doing that well... just don't think so much emphasis need be placed on him.

He was typically disgraceful. When the game was hot - he fumbled around and phucked it up. He had two opportunities to either set up or kick a goal early - and he fumbled and then feebly let the saints defenders take the ball away. I thought both moments were really deflating to the side.

Eagle brings some ball carrying and run to the side

There are plenty of guys that could easily do that on a wing and be far more effective ie Gilbee, Ward, possibly Everitt and maybe even O'Keefee

I see Reid as more of an in and under centreman and not a hard running wingman

Callan i'm not sure has the skills, but hey, he is a step up from Eagleton, plus all of the guys mentioned will be there next season, when Eagle wont

Leave Harbrow in the back pocket, we has been playing well there all season

I wonder if the front on tackle against Hayes where he was forced off counts as a tackle.

I suppose that it would be fairer and far more interesting to have a dedicated thread to each player. Or should we just concentrate on 1 or 2 scapegoats?

The thread isn't dedicated to bagging him out, it was actually created by someone praising him.

On those stats you mentioned. Only 7 of those 23 possessions were kicks. 74% efficiency is very low when you consider his handball to kick ratio and 5 clangers is shocking.

Not an Eagle fan - this year he has taken the "Sam Power/Farren Ray" mantle as the player I get most annoyed at each week. Not that I bag all our players - big fan of Will, Aker, and so on.

That said, he had started to turn the corner with some good games this year, but his last few games haven't been that great, and you would think that if we had all our players up and running, he would be close/certain to be dropped.

With Freo and West Coast back to back at home, Eagle will probably rack up consecutive 20+ disposal and 2 goals games that will make him look a lot better than he actually is.

It should have counted as holding-the-ball. It took Hayes about 3 seconds to shrug him off before he got rid of it.
