You forgot Stacky too Peanuts. I'd have him in before Cometti

I had Stack in my original list. Didn't really rate him enough to put him in the best 18 to be honest. Mainly just threw Cometti in for the novelty value, and there were no real rovers available, that we recruited directly from WA at least (Budgie or Duper would've been there if I included all WA Bulldogs).

Stack kicked 4 goals in a game and Dennis didn't play any games. Gotta pick Stacky before Dennis.....novelty value taken into account.

His old man Steve played a couple of games too. Denis Blair wore #16 when I was a kid I think he was from Subi. Peter Quill came straight from WA. Andrew MacDougal, Robbie West, Phil Cronin, Nicky Winmar all came through other clubs. Malthouse bought his mate Tim Gepp from Richmond-he was from Subi originally.

Where does Nick Lower fit? A native a South Australian recruited from a West Australian club. And Koby Stevens as well.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

It would be a bit of a risk but he could potentially fit into the seniors a lot quicker than a Ben McKay or Sam Skinner who could be a couple of seasons away from senior football.
The beauty of having two consecutive picks is that we can, realistically, 'reach' a little if need be. If we want Adams but are unsure if he'll still be on the board at our third pick, then we should take him (or whoever else it may be) with 21.

Having said that, hypothetically would we rather:
            - Bonner/Fiorini, Adams and ?
            or
            - Bonner, Fiorini, Skinner (for example)?

Hard to say, I don't mind Bonner at all but I think we could find some better candidates.

The 4 picks could be something like Mid, Mid/Medium Defender, Tall, Tall.
The 3rd pick could be one of Adams, Brown or Skinner and the 4th could be out of Skinner, Gardner or Moore

I was told yesterday Jed Adcock will be playing for us in 2016. Don't know what that means for this draft but I trust the source. It has actually been reported this morning that he has been given permission to train with us. Would we take him in this draft?

                  Most probably Rookie Draft.

Still goes to Bulldogs games as well, bumped into him a couple of years ago

I really don't understand this one if you're on the money. It would mean our free rookie selections are now down to two when we should, as I see it, be using the rookie list vacancies to try and find longer term (minimum 3 years from 2017) needs players such as KPB's and rucks. This is a one year stop gap and didn't Adcock play more as a forward?

Why? You can't always play the long game, or else you'll be forever behind the top clubs. How many kids do you need? Being young does not make you better.

I'm quite surprised at some of the backlash of this potential decision. Too many of us get caught up in the romance of youth.

I think the lack of WA talent falling our way in recent times is probably just the way the cards have fallen. In the longer term we have taken plenty of WA players, with a fair few having good careers with us (mostly in the 80s admittedly).

Off the top of my head, I can think of Jason Johannisen, Ryan Hargrave, Simon Beasley, Kingsley Hunter, Andrew Purser, Farren Ray, Brad Hardie, Brad Wira, Murray Rance (damn his son would be handy), Daniel Bandy, Peter Featherby, Jim Sewell, Danny Southern, Allan Daniels, Josh Hill, Ian Williams, John Georgiades, Jayden Schofield and Brennan Stack.
That's not exactly a compelling list to make your point with.

Farren Ray- Requested trade to another club

                          Jayden Schofield- Quit
                          Brennan Stack- Quit

That formline is probably a reason we avoid WA based players.

Sure, but it can easily be matched with another 6 (say JJ, Hargrave, Beasley, Purser, Sewell and Southern) who can be counted as long term solid Bulldogs.

I'd reckon our success rate overall with WA players has been neither especially great nor especially poor.

The point of my initial post wasn't to say how great WA has been to us, just to make the case that our record over the years taking WA players isn't so bad that we should be frightened off an otherwise good candidate.
