Re: 2016 Draft and Trade Strategy

Where are we going to get a low draft pick to use for a Fyfe trade?

What's to let go? The Hun coincidentally reported the same today, but mentioned GCS as the team offering it up. I merely tried to work out how Freo get their cake and eat it too in order to net three good players. And if GCS or someone else stump up the trade currency and cash to Fyffe, then the trade above will happen fairly close to what I mapped out. He's an out and out gun who rotates on ball, tall forward and hits forwards lace out, so talking about him when he could be on the market is interesting and press worthy if nothing else.

See previous post, last page. But GCS would probably offer better picks when Prestia & Jaeger trades get mixed in to their picks.

2 picks in the teens isnt getting you Fyfe.

Would you accept that for Bonti?

What I threw up also had a second rounder in 2017. Dangerfield was traded for pick 9, 28 & Dean Gore and they gave back pick 50. Dangerfield is a better player (without several times broken legs) for mine so 12-14, 19, 36 (2017) isn't that far off and Freo need to do it this year to ensure they keep pick 3 & recruit Hill, McCarthy & Lobb. If we needed to trade up from pick 12-14 then we would. I'd strongly suggest GCS have the picks, money and urgent PR need to outbid every other club. My point is, Fyffe may be on the market and do we want to look at him.

Danger was a different case all together. Adelaide had matching rights if he pursued free agency, so a deal was struck to get him to his nominated team. There was no bidding war, no other teams to complicate things.

Fyfe is worth 2 top 10 picks or equivalent players, otherwise why bother?

That's why GCS (or GWS) is in the box seat if Fyffe wanted to go there. For Freo to pull everything off this year, they really need to do it this year.

We are only the third best defence in the league.

Danger was a different beast, out of contract. And even with the 2 broken legs I'd have Fyfe still more valuable and IMO a better player.

I think Freo would laugh at us if we came in with two picks in the teens. If we are serious about Nat we would need to somehow come up with at least a pick in the mid top 10.

As I say that's why an expansion team is set. GCS (Picks 4, 6/Prestia & 10 - plus Jaeger picks) and GWS (Picks 7, 16, 17 and players Freo want - plus Marchbank & Tomlinson picks) are set to pounce.

We'd need to offer up two first round draft picks and a good player to Fremantle to land Fyfe.
                          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Yep. He's top shelf at exactly something we need but I'm really hesitant about Fyfe. The broken legs and the associated injuries. And him, I just don't take to him. Normally I can be pretty pragmatic about this stuff. If Jack the Ripper could kick straight and get his hands on the ball 25 times then I'd have put up with a little bit of serial killing. But I just don't like Nat Fyfe and it would bring me no joy to see him in the tricoleur.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

That surprises me to read that Twodogs I love the way Fyfe goes about it. I understand the reluctance with his injuries but he would enhance any list.

He certainly would be a great player to have. Will unlikely happen.

Dangerfield would have been an excellent get but obviously didn't happen. I wonder what we would have to give up if we wanted to secure him to the club.
