    Re: WOOF Phantom Drafts

As I mentioned a few posts earlier we could have a situation of having some of the more highly rated players available for our pick 9

It's not without a decent chance that a number of highly regarded players from a strong list of Stephenson, Naughton, Clark, Coffield, D.Fogarty or Higgins could be available for our pick. Then there is the likes of Richards who appears to be on our radar.

Pick 9 is certainly opening up and that should also assist with our pick 16.

Anyone game enough to put a few names to the picks?

      Re: WOOF Phantom Drafts

      Brisbane - LDU
      Fremantle - Brayshaw
      Carlton - Dow
      North - Rayner
      Fremantle - Stephenson/Cerra
      Collingwood - Naughton
      Saints - Cerra/Stephenson
      Saints - D Fogarty
      Dogs - Clark
      Carlton - Coffield
      GWS - Richards
      Adelaide - Brander
      West Coast - Bonar
      Sydney - Higgins
      Brisbane - Bailey
      Dogs - Murphy
      Richmond - Houlahan

      Brisbane - Worpel
      GC - Constable
      Richmond - L Fogarty
      West Coast - Allen
      Geelong - O'Brien
      North - Ballard
      Geelong - Stoddart
      Richmond - Naish

That's my top 25 based on some thought today.

I've come around to Freo grabbing Brayshaw. Carlton then snap up Dow who compliments their team better than Rayner, with Rayner's endurance the concern.

North need a quality player, they haven't had a early pick for ages and back themselves to get the most out of Rayner. He could be the best player and they need elite talent.

Fremantle can't believe their luck being able to chose from Cerra and Stephenson, after grabbing Brayshaw they're happy to select Stephenson who adds a point of difference.

Collingwood would've strongly considered Rayner or Stephenson, but with them off the table they go Naughton.

Saints then snap up the reliable Cerra and some potential with Fogarty - a similar risk to us with Macrae and Stringer back in 2012, but one that can pay dividends.

Clark is the next best available for me, and a neat duel sided player who can play midfield and half back appeals. After a few slides getting snapped up we are able to land Murphy at 16 and walk away happy. GWS snap up Richards to add another running defender, Crows are wrapped with the best KPP falling into their lap, WC can't resist Bonar who add some athleticism to their side, Sydney who didn't think Higgins would be available can't resist the young leader who will fit in well and compliment the selections of Florent and Hayward from last year.

Brisbane love the pace of Bailey and believe he'd adjust well to Brisbane. He's moved interstate to follow his dream already. Worpel later rounds out some good selections and adds leadership and a body ready to go.

Richmond like the appeal Houlahan has with his ability in the air and versatility. They take Naish at 24 after matching Geelong's bid, and are also able to snare L Forgarty - a great draft for the reigning premiers.

GC with Constable, a big bodied player they can build around. WC a local boy in Allen, and Geelong see the outside appeal of the highly rated O'Brien and the precise kicking, aerial ability and scope to improve with Stoddart. North grab Ballard to ensure they don't miss the big midfielder boat and are happy with the potential they walk away with.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

        Re: WOOF Phantom Drafts

        In order of preference:

        Pick 9:
        - Stephenson
        - D. Fogarty
        - Clark
        - Coffield
        - Richards

Thoughts: Stephenson would be a dream but surely unlikely. I'd find it hard to pass up on D. Fogarty who certainly has some star power and brings flexibility. Clark plays the game the right way and Coffield/Richards look like classy additions. Hard to split Clark/Coffield/Richards.

        Pick 16:
        - Bonar
        - L. Fogarty
        - Murphy
        - Higgins
        - Houlahan

Thoughts: Probably depends who we select at 9 but plenty of good options should be available here. L. Fogarty would suit us well with the twin towers, Higgins productive but his lack of pace is my real concern. Bonar and Murphy would be great selections here.

While we don't necessarily need talls, Naughton would be hard to pass on

Moreso, if we take Naughton then we must retire Morris and retire/trade Roberts despite a contract for 2019. We return Young back to his forward line history (4 KPFs) and focus on Cordy, Adams & Trengove with Collins & Naughton developing (5 KPDs).

Even still, our problems are run no carry, no real small forwards with pace and the need for more top level disposal going forward. I'm not in the Naughton with 9 camp.

Does it really matter providing Dalrymple believes Naughton is a 200 game player and clearly the best at number 9?

I get that we really need a player with a bit of run which is why I have been mentioning Richards frequently along with Clark and Coffield but I'm confident Dal will do the right thing for us.

I'm working on a draft order now which has us taking Richards and then L.Fogarty
The backups for those positions are Clark and Coffield and then Higgins and Murphy

I have Brayshaw going a 1 and Constable at 15.

A few of the learned phantom drafters seem to be seeing Higgins getting through to us at 16. That'd be a great result. I love his work ethic and professionalism. Some equate that to a low ceiling but I reckon that's bunkum, he'll just keep working. My dream conceivable outcome would be:

9 - Stephenson, Clark or Cerra
                              16 - Higgins, L.Fogarty or Z.Bailey

Any of those at 9 would be amazing, Clark the most realistic chance although his decision making needs work by all accounts.
Bailey's kicking worries me as an outside mid / flanker type.
