Great report James Cumming. Having been at the game, I agree 100% with your player analysis.

    Some other thoughts.....

I would have said HC was allowed to play yesterday, but didn't and with the 5 day turn around, is he the most likely (and only change) for this coming Friday? Biggs would be the only other person I'd consider for elevation from the game (all things considered).

I would leave Schache where he is for now...I could see him easily being pushed around at AFL level and with our poor forward entry work, the kid would be 'shown up' even more so and the media would have him for breakfast. There is plenty of time.....

Young plays best as third man up/sweeper versus being directly responsible for an opponent, and is allowed to play this role at VFL level and hence gets the accolades. He hasn't been allowed to do this at AFL leave with our injuries in 2018.

English is a rising star in the making (enough said)

Hypothetical...play NMM in the 2016 Z Cordy role ie defensive CHF. This week-end he played forward (has been back all year so far), and showed he can mark, is fast for a big man, can kick fairly straight and tackle hard. We might as well find out something about the kid before too long as I see him as a likely delist otherwise.

Much better game by Porter - agree with comment above - he is a midfielder, not a flanker.

Best game by Roarke Smith this year I thought.
There is no sadder sight than a young pessimist.

The player he tackled was being a cocky little sh*t as well before NMM brought him down. Pretty important 'win' at that stage of the last qtr.

As long as Schache is happy I agree. Let him build up his confidence, he looks happy playing footy ATM and some of the footy he is playing is pretty good as a result. He has a few howlers at times but he's having some good spells of footy too.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

He does have that look about him. He's not big, not quick, nothing elite about him, but he's improving as a footballer to the point that he's dominating at VFL level. You don't get 37 disposals and 2 goals if your average. He is either extremely fit or a smart footballer that knows where to get the footy.
If he keeps performing at that level someone will take another look at him.

What he is elite at is endurance running. He is the best runner at the club full stop.
