You just don't understand how enthusiastic the fans are about drawing the draft out over two nights. Really adds to the spectacle.
    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I feel sorry for the kids who have to wait and extra day to find out whether they get drafted or not. The suspense must be awful, especially for kids who only spoke to 1-2 clubs.

It's really hard to fathom the reasoning behind it. Are we copying something another sport does?

I think US Sports frequently do this, NFL in particular. I'm not sure if NBA does it as well. It's definitely TV network driven.

Just in case one night isn't boring enough...let's make it TWO!

First night is just the first round.

Not sure why AFL want to do it this way?

They must have data that shows its better than one night numbers wise but I haven't heard one person that say they like it.
I get Rd 3 and 4 etc can get a bit drawn out but how many people will only watch night 1?

If they do it over 2 nights, they can put round one in prime time without pushing the end of the draft back to midnight, where the numbers of people who watch would be , I’d imagine, pretty comparable for the latter rounds of not worse than a 2nd night.
It also gives another day of content / speculation/ eyeballs that distracts from other sports and provides further sponsorship opportunities.
It’s all part of the AFL’s ongoing campaign to draw attention for as long as humanly possible over the calendar year. It’s a very NFL style tactic (their draft is over 3 days)

They have something like 250 picks though, so it is sort of a necessity to hold it over several days. The AFL had less than a quarter of that last year.

Exactly, it's got nothing to do with delivering value. It's all to do with making sure it's the only thing on for as long as possible.

250 picks many of whom have been playing games televised across the nation and are well known to the public. Best case scenario people have seen 10% of tonights draftees play an actual game...maybe a clip or two but not much more than that.

While I think I can genuinely say "I've moved on and it was a great season", even just this morning on my way to work I thought to myself "Damn that would've been amazing if we'd won it from out of the top 4 and all the travel we had to do...a fairy tale slipped through our fingers."

                            But I'm definitely over it!

                              I feel the same.

I "got over it" pretty quickly but not really over it over it.

Pretty amazing season by our guys and hopefully only good things to come.
My excitement for next year is on slow burn right now.
