I will only watch it until the Darcy pick is confirmed. Thursday night is the interesting one for me.

Do we just have 2 more picks after Darcy or could it be 3?

Cal Twomey reporting that GWS have informed us that they’ll bid on Darcy at 2 and that we’ve got a 3 way deal with Geelong and North in place to swap 23 for extra points.
I’d suggest it’d be 3 picks total.

It theoretically could be as many as 4 - we have 5 list spots to fill (Raak could also be in addition to this if taken as a category B rookie).

How we go about filling them is unknown and could come from the national or rookie drafts or a later signing. We still aren't certain who of the current rookies may be elevated and how many rookies we will have in 2022.

OK, so it's assured Darcy goes at 2. One of those deal will go through and get us some extra points.

Perhaps it's as Axe has highlighted 3 picks and maybe Raak.

Darcy is going to be an absolute monster when he fills out. He’s skinny now because he’s tall as hell, once the muscle starts to get slabbed on he’ll be huge. Broad shoulders, big calves. Pretty confident we don’t have another ectomorphic Ayce Cordy on our hands.

So I wonder if a phone call like that could be leveraged in any way.. Is there anything Sam Power could say to them that might cause them to reflect and potentially reconsider?
Something like 'OK thanks for letting us know. If you guys think he's worth pick 2, that's interesting.. and yeah we'll have to reflect on that...appreciate the heads up.'
Now of course we're going to pick him... but IF GWS aren't really genuine in thinking he's worth pick 2...and are doing it on the presumption only that we'll automatically match it, BUT they'd really prefer another player, is there anything that Sam could say that might make them shy away from bidding?

I'm not sure this is simply a case of forcing us to pay a high price, they would love a tall and I think they would genuinely be happy to take him at 2. I don't think we have any play here other than the pick trade.

Yeah I broadly agree, and if that's the case fine, but my query is more a hypothetical as to would there be anything we could say that might scare them off, if they were just thinking of making a tactical bid'

If we assume he goes at pick 2 that's pick 1 and pick 2 in the last two years.
We just need to be patient with our expectations as they two boys develop

One is compared to Franklin they other with Ben King. Have to be happy with that.

All without a 2022 deficit and having played in a GF. Ecstatic is a better description. Fantastic work by our team behind the scenes to make this happen.

I've barely watched or read anything since Bont kicked his 3rd halfway through the 3rd qtr of the GF.

I'll get more interested as we approach the new season (and tonight/tomorrow will start the process), but the GF still smarts to be honest.
