That aside I can't think of another player in the league like him and doubt he will replicate this season.

I hope not. I feel like Melbourne must have sold their soul to the devil with the near perfect season they had, I just can't see a team ever having such a blessed run with players having career best years and next to no injuries.

Happy with the Darcy pick.

Very happy with the Jones pick.

Pleased with McComb getting his chance and further cementing Footscray as a potent pathway.

Ambivalent on Cleary, Parker and Raak. All tweeners.

Disappointed we did nothing about our ruck depth.

7/10 draft for mine as an immediate reaction (which will obviously be shown up as wrong by middle of next year but what can you do).

I think you might be looking at this in the wrong context.

While I agree that another KP and a ruckman would have been great for team balance once the deadline passed during the trade period our chances of securing a genuine ruckman during the draft was reduced significantly.

From a draft perspective and given the picks we had I think we've done our homework and landed some good selections.

Would you think we had performed better if we had selected Charlie Dean instead of Cleary which would have given us a bit more depth in our KP defender stocks?

I think Parker might surprise us and I'm not sure he fits the tweener label.

We appear to have placed a premium on kicking skills which might have put a line through the likes of Stagg for us.

The issue of team balance remains but it was unlikely that the draft was going to address that for us.
