Its been great to see Footscray tonight, brings back memories of watching the reserves, pre main game. Good to be able to keep track of our young players.

Throw in West all but banging the door down and it's hard to see where he does.

And then next week, he'll mark everything and look like a superstar. Bizarre player.

Hannan can do a lot of damage with half a chance, just needs to get his match fitness up and he'll be dangerous at AFL level.

I think Wally is the safe veteran but if those 3 have the tank and trust to play AFL footy, their style suits us more.

The umpires efforts were nicely summed up right at the end with a run down tackle that either had to be holding the ball or in the back inexplicably called play on and Jamarra being assaulted in the final seconds for another no call.

Thanks. Not seeing Wally last year, his stats show he did well. But I tend to agree the other guys have a point of difference that compliments our tall forwards. I’m struggling a little to see he fits in now it’s going to be 6 games in. It looks like a potentially difficult thing for player and club this year unless the MC are forced to pick him on outstanding form.

That aside, it’s great to have a lot of good problems.

Wally seriously lifted once he moved into the middle in the second half, his first half was pretty ordinary.

Then the goal umpire gets in on it claiming Schache’s goal was touched despite it missing and hand by at least 4 inches. I trust the coaches and MC in analysis realise he actually hit the scoreboard a little better. I simply can’t explain a lot of tonight, for many examples like you point out. Maybe it is local poor level rules where the home team supplies the umpires?

Not withstanding the Giants twos are crap, but also pretty heartening to see Marra have a patchy game and still sneak away with a lazy bag of five.

He's perfectly suited for an inside mid role at VFL. He could play there all year and dominate.

He didn't do much tonight but I'm getting strong Mitch Georgiades vibes from Bedendo. He's so raw but there's plenty to work with.

Really liked Garcia's hands in tight as well. He looks a natural footballer with clean hands.

We have serious depth of talent on the list.

Nothing against that, you’re right 100%. But if that’s his best spot he’s competing with Bonts, Libba, Smith, Macrae, Treloar etc for s game. Or at least Lippa, McLean, Jong, West etc.

I don’t see him turning into a defender. So he’s impact the forward line and he’s competing with the players Rocco mentioned. Others who have other tricks. I’m not going to write him off, I’m just seeing that he’s going to have to bang down the door as a forward to get back in, while the others plateau. Games like tonight probably don’t do that. But we will see.
