With teams (incl Dogs) having both AFL and VFL finals teams, I am struggling to see how the proposed VFL finals format can occur. The brief is to start a finals series next weekend, but with full AFL team lists interstate, doesn’t this compromise a potential start next weekend (or even the week following). Will we end up being crowned VFL premiers due to our ladder position at the end of this Covid compromised season? This happened in the 2020 AFLW season from memory.

What is the plan with the VFL season? I have seen some suggestions that it will be cancelled, and some suggestions that Footscray could play a grand final against Southport this weekend (seeing as we have the whole list with us in Brisbane anyway).

What do you think will happen? It will be a shame if an undefeated season ends without any silverware.

Would also be very disappointing for the VFL-only players who have been a key part of the success this year, so far from an ideal situation.

Would be absolutely pointless. Have no actual premier and the ladder as it is as a reflection of the teams success or otherwise.

For us, I’d rather not risk injuring players 24-30 if we get through to the prelim.

I can see that side of things, but also would like the players to play.

Two sides of the one coin. A good hit out with ambitious players fighting to show form does holds value. Puts pressure on selectors should we get through to the prelim. If they get through without injury that’s then something. It would also be Final answer on Stef and if he’s a serious contender this year.
