    Re: 2022 Draft Watch

George for Sydney’s Pick 20 would be a cherry on top.

I wonder if F1 (Bris) & Pick 39 for Sydney F2 would do the trick.

The next picks Allan & Hayes. Not a bad outcome either.

I think it’s a good deal if we rate George.

Then it’s either Busslinger, Clarke & George - or - Allen, Hayes & George. On the late main phantom.

        Still with 2023 F1, F2, F2, F4, F4, F4 and $1M+

With Lobb & Jones (& Baker) and Rookie Pick 11 walk away very happy.

Just listening to Beatson now. Seems to open to consider swaps but would prefer something back in the 2nd round.

            Re: 2022 Draft Watch

I don’t want to trade that Brisbane first. If we do it for the Swans pick then there’s very limited circumstances where we could come out ahead in terms of pick capital.

We’d want to be trading with a specific player in mind and be pretty sure that he’s a jet.

I wonder if a club will take a flyer on Will Elliott? 202cm forward/ruckman who was cut down by injury this year.
Son of gun cricketer Matthew Elliott and his brother Sam has just played for the Victorian cricket team.

Will was named captain of the Chargers this year but only played 2 games.

One to keep an eye on.

Late murmurings (take with a grain of salt):
                - Beatson expects night 1 to take longer than expected with a flurry of offers for top-10 picks.
                - Saints keen to trade into the first round again using future picks to target Hewitt
                - Hawks met with Ginbey last night. GCS the night before. No guarantee to last until West Coast's pick
                - Melbourne targeting Sydney's 17 or GWS' 19 to take Barnett (SA ruckman)

                  Re: 2022 Draft Watch

Swans picks 14 & 17 should be a target for us. Both picks.

Swans have stated publicly they would consider an exchange if it involved F1 & 2nd round picks this year. Swans have placed a high value on procuring an F1. We seem perfectly placed to make a deal.

We could offer one of our F1 picks, 21 & 39 which will move up a few spots effectively becoming a 2nd rounder. Something like that.

Pick 39 is one pick out if the second round. As close as you get…

Will be interesting to see if we really rate a kid at a Sydney pick and what (if anything) we do.

11, 14 & 17 is a red hot draft hand for us. Three first rounders plus Lobb & Jones.

Say the live Sydney picks are 16 & 19.

Pick 19 for an expected late F1 (precedent for this price a couple of years back)
Pick 16 for Pick 21 & 39. So a 5 pick upgrade for us, for Pick 37-39 in turn. (Late 2nd after shuffling probably)

It’s a pretty persuasive deal if we rate the player at Pick 16 as worth the F1 & Pick 39. We’d have to rate them very highly. But if the club did, I’d be by extension stoked the club saw an opportunity to bring in a high end talent a year early to assist the refresh.

It’s got to be tempting depending on who is on the board come the Sydney picks.

Which players would be worth that trade? Weddle and Jakob Ryan are two that I really like what I've been reading. I would be less inclined to trade up for Konstanty, if the likely alternative is Clarke at 21 as it seems the difference is minimal.

I agree with an earlier post that if we can trade in and walk away with Allan, Weddle and George I would be really happy.

I think that Weddle is the only player that I'd trade up for since there'd be no chance of him making it to 21.

                            Re: 2022 Draft Watch

If you’re playing at home. If Pick 39 is traded know this:

It was acquired in a series of points trade last year as a swap for our natural pick this year. That natural Pick would’ve been Pick 50. So that’s where the trade strand begun. Pick 50.

So in one sense, it’s the original Pick 50 being further ontraded. So say Pick 21 & 39 could buy us an upgrade to a Sydney First Round Pick. We’ve then acquired that First rounder with the lesser part of Dunks compo and the original Pick 50.

Or even if say we used a F1 to get a Sydney First, and we traded out Pick 37-38 (after shuffling) which is late second round pick - for a future late F2 or very early F3 - We’ve taken used the Dunkley trade for two natural picks inside Pick 21 this year (an upgrade still next into the F2) and rolled the original Pick 50 from this year into a late F2 or early F3 next year too. Keeping a strong presence.

If our natural 39 stays within the Top 40, it means in theory it holds more value as NGA bids can’t be matched. If we won’t use it, it’s a juicy Pick for a club to secure an NGA or for a club to come in and steal an NGA kid. So hopefully it stays under the NGA cut off and holds some value like a late F2 next year if we are trading it out.

I’ve a feeling it’s going to be a lot of horse trading this draft. But we seem to have a lot of things in our favour (2 x F1, third pick on night two, Pick just before NGA cut off) if we want to play.

I find Tsatas to Essendon interesting.

I know you are meant to go best player etc but isn't he very similar to what they already have in the midfield?

We seem to have a small forward lined up at our third pick if we don't get one with the first two (Leary)
Shaun Bennier as a tall(ish) defender if we don't get one with our first two picks.

Pick 39 will balance out first two selections at a guess
