    Re: 2022 Draft Watch

I really want to thank Mofra, The Doctor, Gaz, Bulldogtragic, Swoop, Granty Ghost, and MJP for keeping this up to date and all of us informed. One of the first threads I jump onto. Sorry if I have missed calling out anyone else.

You've put me in some illustrious company there Jasper, not sure I belong however I want to add my voice of thanks to your post for the guys on here who constantly keep us informed.
Woof is the single best place for content like this; many posters are far more intelligent than a lot of peeps getting paid to inform the masses.
Must admit I love everything about the draft these days. Maybe with the exception of the two nights.

      Really looking forward to it.

        Re: 2022 Draft Watch

Well looky looky, things in the kitchen are warming up

        HUN

The Western Bulldogs have emerged as a shock contender to snatch Essendon’s No.4 draft pick in a plot twist to the Josh Dunkley trade saga.

The Dogs, armed with selections 11, 21, 39 as well as two first-round selections in the 2023 draft, have made a late pitch to poach the prized selection.

They received picks 21 and Brisbane Lions’ future first-round pick as part of the Dunkley deal that stretched the trade deadline due to tense negotiations.

The Herald Sun can reveal that the Dogs are one of four clubs locked in 11th-hour talks with the Bombers over the No.4 pick.

Melbourne also has strong interest and, like the Dogs, has significant draft capital in 2023 to help broker a deal.

The bidding war leaves the Bombers in a nice position. They will be open to offers right until they are on the clock at Monday night’s draft, where they will either accept a bombshell deal or draft one of the best players in the country.

If the Bombers accept a deal they are likely to shore up their future by banking multiple early picks across the next two drafts. While giving up a top-five pick would be hard to stomach, bringing in multiple star teenagers over the next 12 months would be a boom result for new coach Brad Scott.

It’s understood Victorians Elijah Tsatas and Bailey Humphrey are the top targets for clubs looking to trade for Essendon’s selection.

If we end up with pick 4 who do you think we are targeting woofers (Tstatas or Humphrey better for us, someone else eg Phillipou)? And what would we have to give up to trump demons’ offer?

Interesting. Without knowing anything would suggest that this has been the defender vs mid struggle we’ve been hearing about (ie move up for a mid vs stay back for a defender).

Are any of these guys worth, say, 11, 23 and Brisbane’s pick? Because I think that’s what it would take.

I suspect it will be Tsatas or Humphrey.

                Re: 2022 Draft Watch

I don't love it. We have had two off seasons now of getting a super top end talent and the rest just being late picks. We have a chance of putting 2 or even 3 top 25 talents on the list this season and while i am all for grabbing a future star I'm worried when we look at Footscray again mid next year it'll be a bunch of maybes and safe bets again.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Good food for thought but perhaps we aren't enamored with the 10 to 14 range of players we have on our list and want to dip our toe in.
Getting an outcome with Essendon won't be easy given their win screw approach to everything so I wouldn't put money money on it happening.

I trust our club to make sound judgements. Clearly Dees and us really, really rate pick 4. I have to keep reminding myself our 2 x 2023 F1 are likely to be well into the teens. Intriguing.

Wow we must not rate outside the top ten for mids and think this is a route to better talent.

Why would Essendon do this? I guess they'll get more picks?

Would we still be looking at bringing in 3?

...and St Kilda. Offered pick 9 and Hunter Clark for pick 3 during trade period. Clubs really enamored with the first handful of picks this year.

Perhaps getting a few picks before Alwyn Davey is bid on is their aim or it could be they want a F1
Would 11, 39 and a F1 be enough for them for pick 4?

Doubt it, considering Melbourne's offer of pick 13 and two future picks was rejected by Essendon

Probably, we can always bid on Davey and select Munkara to get one back on them I doubt we do that either

It will take more than that with Dodoro. Pick 4 is special and he would want full book value and then some.
