    Re: 2022 Draft Watch

Surely an SSP selection is a ruck?

    Jones for Cordy - KPD
Lobb for Schache - KPF, 2nd Ruck
    Clarke for Wallis - FWD
    Gallagher for Parker - HBF
Busslinger for Butler - DEF (one taller)
    Baker for Hunter - WING
Khamis for Dunkley - Different roles
Sweet for Martin - RUCK on main list

We have not replaced the rookie draft ruckman. An LTI to English and would water down the benefits of securing Lobb. So the question is is it a kid, a state leaguer or delisted experienced ruckman?

Our refusal to address the ruck situation continues to be .... interesting.

We really need some rookie insurance.

If we want to roll the dice and prefer to have extra marginal midfielders on the list then that's okay but we shouldn't then use it as a plausible excuse if injuries come to the rucks.
There has been a lot of comments that we can't find one or we can't find a Bevo type but I'd suggest we simply aren't looking that hard.

Not sure if true but from someone who did have some good tips a few weeks ago:

Hi Doggies fans. Thought you might be interested in some info I have about your clubs rookie draft and why you passed with your pick. You guys had two names on the board for the rookie draft - Blake Drury and Rhett Montgomerie. Both of whom were taken before your pick. The National draft on the other hand went according to plan, the 3 selections made were the 3 you were expecting to land on the night

I hate them now, but Brisbane (obviously)
TBH I think the Saints did well with what they had

And I'll throw in Sydney - because they always do, but really because they utterly screwed GWS and this pleases me

Saints did the best, North 2nd and maybe Hawks 3rd. Brisbane and the Dogs just after that.

And we no longer have Jong or Dunkley to call on

An interesting (but long) article about the almost pick swaps that didn't happen in the first round of the draft.

Inside the draft: Dons' big call, Bailey's 'butterfly effect', what didn't happen

Cal Twomey reveals the behind-the-scenes dealings at the 2022 NAB AFL Draft and how the fall of one domino could well have re-shaped the entire first night

                        One interesting Bulldogs titbit:

The Western Bulldogs, with Tsatas on their radar, were willing to use pick 11 and a future first-rounder to get pick No.4, but their pick was too far back for the Bombers to move.

I'm glad that didn't happen, Tsatas is good but Bussinger fills a massive position of need and the future first could be super valuable for getting deals done.

It's fortunate we were in the sweet spot for getting a highly rated key defender.

I'd be more than happy to use the two first round picks next year. Our early record has been good and we need more young talent coming through after hyper focusing our draft capital into two picks over two years.

Disagree. Tsatas is a runner who would help NOW. Busslinger is an exciting prospect but we will be lucky to see him before 2025.

Bummed we couldn’t make this work.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Would Tsatas help US now? IE can he play outside or would he have been another competing for inside minutes?
