As if we're actually getting Crossley. He's just depth for match simulation while we're in town.
      TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Could well be the case but why do a medical for a scratch match?

Yes there's more chance of Patrick Bowden getting a train on gig than Croswell.
          Ain't happening folks.

I'm partially being silly, and you raise a good point. But......this guy's been available for months, we've known of our exposures with JUH and the ruck situation for months. He's exactly the type of ruck Beveridge doesn't play and we're going up north for a serious match simulation without our key ruck available.

Just can't get that excited given the timing and our history.

This reminds me a bit when the wife was told she needed to see a Periodontist and she was rushing to make sure our health care covered the soon to be hefty fees.
With Tim a chance to miss some time we are looking at Crossley as an insurance play.
We've clearly has an Oh Shit Experience and are testing the market in a last minute .com desperation act.
I can recall the discussion here prior to and during the trade period and the majority of good folk were completely okay with our ruck set and wouldn't hear even suggestions that we should add another ruck man.
It is interesting that we have sounded out a ruck man who dominated us in a VFL game.
I doubt it happens but this is going to be a healthy debate.

So the master list manager and guy who never makes a mistake, Sam Power, didn't understand our exposures (especially given Tim's history) prior to the last trade period? If that's the case then he can't be promoted to football director and really shouldn't be list managing.

'Cos if he goes out there and gets injured, well...new injuries are something you can accept. But if he had an ACL (for example) that he hadn't told anyone about then went down at the first bounce and clutched his knee, well...you know who pays for all that right? His employer.

Medical check makes a lot of sense.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

That's an interesting conclusion to come to. I'm not sure why you are scapegoating Sam on singling him out when clearly there is a List Management committee and the decisions go through the group.
I think there is a gap with our rucking depth and I don't care if it's Crossley or someone else but I'm also okay with hearing why others want us to head in another direction.

Stevo I like Sam Power and think he does a good job. I also think shit doesn't stick to him in any way or at least that's how I perceive how he's viewed by many. I just have a bit of fun with it in my own peevish way.

There's been no change to our ruck depth for two post seasons. I find it difficult to understand how Sam or a list management committee or an entire football department could now come to the conclusion that's all of a sudden a problem. It baffles me that it's now a problem two thirds of the way through a preseason, when it wasn't the most recent post season or the one before that prior to preseasons kicking off and when players should be recruited to train and plan for the season together.

Sure, I get the JUH situation and an injury to Naughton or Darcy might change English's role in the team. I understand how Lobb's new competence as a defender might have changed our views, but these were all possibilities prior to preseason starting.

I don't know, perhaps there's been a power shift in the football department now that Chris Grant has left. Perhaps it wasn't Beveridge who was blocking the recruitment of a ruck all this time. Perhaps Beveridge has changed his mind, it can happen. It just baffles me how this could be happening now.
                          TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

If we could look under the bonnet of the clubs list management decisions I think we would find that we dawdled a bit before coming the conclusion that Marra was going to miss a large chunk of the season.
Then with Naughton taking a longer time to lift his training load and finally with an injury to English we've come to the conclusion we haven't got the balance right.
Is it Sam, Dom, Bevo, Egan or even that pesky Lade that has missed the signs I don't really care but I can recall some of the passionate discussions here during the trade period and 90% of us didn't think we needed another ruck man but shit happens and we are now having a rethink. I doubt we will pull the trigger but I also don't care that he is a bit shorter than most rucks or a bit older than the juniors or that he might carry a few KG's more than he should.

I know it’s likely a significant number and possibly a significant majority of players (like we’d expect across general public for their age group) take illicit drugs. However shouldn’t we be concerned, given we’ve had some drug related challenges with players in last few years (mullet boy comes to mind) ? Today’s AFL article states “Crossley played 10 games for Gold Coast after being recruited from the Suns' Academy, before being delisted at the end of 2019 after being handed a 12-month anti-doping suspension.”

PS I’m not against second chances either, just hope our due diligence is A1 & Bont & rest of our leaders have input into decision if we are considering him for a spot on our list.
                              Josie :)

                              Our day will come
                              And we'll have everything.
                              We'll share the joy
                              Just like '54 again.

There is no downside whatsoever in having Crossley train with us, whether it's just for a weekend or for the remainder of the pre-season supplemental period.
