Talked to a mate in WA who gets to a couple of WAFL games each week. He loves watching footy live.
He rates Sellwood and compared him to a back line version of Jai Newcombe. His only doubt on him was if he was quick enough.
His marking in 1 v 1 contests was well above average and he is a neat kick albeit not overly attacking with his foot skills.
It will be interesting to see how serious we might be with him. What should I tell her? She's going to ask.👍 1Comment

Mid Season draft coming up on Wednesday 26th.
How is the draft order decided? - from AFL.com.au
Like the National Draft, the Mid-Season Draft order is determined by reverse ladder position. The team at the bottom of the ladder after round 11 (assuming it has a list vacancy) gets the No.1 pick, with the second-last team to have the No.2 pick, and so on.
The complication this season is the fact Essendon and Gold Coast have played one game less than the rest of the competition due to their Opening Round game being postponed. A winning percentage ladder will therefore determine the draft order, with clubs on the same winning percentage to be separated by their regular for and against percentage.
The final draft order will be determined on Tuesday.

West Coast has also been linked to 21-year-old defender Michael Sellwood, who’s performed well for Peel Thunder this season averaging 23.7 disposals and 7.5 marks from six WAFL games while racking up 19 disposals and eight marks in the WA-SA state game last weekend. Sellwood confirmed to SEN WA this week he’d had a medical with the Western Bulldogs, who rival clubs believe could be eyeing a running defender at next week’s draft with their natural open spot after opting against filling their list during the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP).
However the Bulldogs have also been linked to two small forwards: Werribee star Zac Banch (175cm) — who’s kicked 8.8 and averaged 16.2 disposals from his past five VFL games — and 182cm North Adelaide goalkicker Ewan Mackinlay — who’s impressed clubs with his speed and power, as well as his kicking skills in the front half. Mackinlay, who’s kicked 5.7 and averaged 16.2 disposals from six SANFL games, also has interest from Port Adelaide, who rival clubs believe are on the hunt for a player speed in the forward half next week.FFC: Established 1883

Surely Jamarra is done for the year, so we could get a spot for him. Would really like a speedy goalkicker added to the list, as we’re very reliant on West now. A Darcy Fort like backup would be handy too, though I’m not sure if there are any. Sellwood does sound good. I hope we nail this selection or 2 and I’ve got faith we will after our last draftComment

Richmond VFL
Age: 19, Height: 171cm, Position: Forward
The Western Jets graduate burst on to the VFL scene at his first chance, having 19 disposals and kicking two goals in Round 1 against Coburg. His second outing was even better – nine clearances, 24 disposals and three tackles. Raso is only 171cm but he’s had a big impact for the Tigers, showing speed, smarts and skill and a nose for the goals (he had 12 after six games). “The front and centre specialist, he’s going really well at the moment,’’ Tigers coach Jake Batchelor said after Round 6. “He’s taking on feedback around his defence as well as crumbing patterns and he’s putting them into action straight away.” Massimo played his first game for the Jets as a 16-year-old and finished second in their 2023 best and fairest. Last year he played more as a small forward.

Jackson Voss (Son of Brett) has been in good form this year. If we were looking for a Duryea replacement he might be worth considering.
Frankston VFL
Age: 23, Height: 183cm, Position: Defender
Dolphins coach Jackson Kornberg describes his left-footer as a “territory-taker’’. The son of former AFL player Brett Voss kicks the ball a l-o-n-g way and is as tough as cheap steak. Last season he finished third in the best and fairest, averaging 20.8 disposals and 4.8 rebound 50s. “Off halfback, his ability to drive his legs and that powerful left-foot kick … I think he’s trending in a really positive direction,’’ Kornberg said of the former Sandringham Dragon, who has played an important role in Frankston’s rise from the lower rungs of the VFL ladder.

My guess is we have a narrow list of just 2 players we are interested in.

It does look like we have cast a wide net.
We have been linked with 2 more names
Zac Walker and Cooper Herbert being added to the list.
Sellwood, McKinlay Raso, Banch and now we've apparently run the ruler over Walker and Herbert.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"👍 2Comment

Calder Cannons
Age: 19, Height: 189cm, Position: Forward/Midfield
A player who attracted a lot of AFL interest late last year, Herbert is an athletic medium forward who can also have a run in the midfield. He has been taking marks and hitting the scoreboard for the Cannons on a regular basis in the early part of this year. Herbert also kicked 3.1 from 15 disposals and six marks in the second Young Guns game earlier this month, putting a bit of his X-Factor on show. “He makes good decisions, hits the scoreboard and is hard to stop in the air for his size,” Calder Cannons talent lead Seb Spagnuolo said. “He plays a bit taller than he is.”
Ewan Mackinlay
North Adelaide
Age: 21, Height: 182cm, Position: Midfield/Forward
“My take is that someone will take Ewan because he has lots of AFL attributes and upside in regards to the way he plays,” former North Adelaide coach Jacob Surjan said. That is as good of a sign as any that Mackinlay is being tracked by AFL clubs. The former Murray Bushranger has captivated onlookers with some freakish snap goals for North Adelaide and can also go through the midfield, averaging 16 disposals, six score involvements and 92 SuperCoach points per game. He was impressive at Gather Round against the VFL with 16 touches, five inside 50s, five tackles and a goal, and he was named as an emergency for SA’s loss WA on Saturday.
Zac Walker
Gippsland Power
Age: 19, Height: 191cm, Position: Defender
Walker was added to the Power list as an over-age player after strong form in the West Gippsland league, where he kicked 13 goals in 16 games with nine mentions in the best against men for grand finalist Phillip Island. But it has been down back where Walker turned heads in his first two games Power, with his reading of the play, strong hands overhead and footskills standing out. Walker clunked eight intercept marks among 10 total intercepts in his Coates Talent League debut and followed with another seven marks from the opposition and 12 intercepts in his next match. His hot start earnt him a Young Guns opportunity, where he had 12 touches and four rebound 50s against Vic Metro.
