I'd be waiting until the carnival before declaring this draft rubbish.

Maybe more a trade period between clubs then than younger players if thats the case as the new club will take the talent.

My issue with Wight not coming on and in looking forward is also list management for the end of this year.

If Skip and Wight get the chop, and Aker retires (???), O'Shea as much as i love his attack - things just don't seem to work for him, and if Stack and Lynch are looked at, if Eagle is tapped on the shoulder, if any kids leave for more game time (ala Farren) - Some rookies don't quite look making it past the 2 years that get either. There will be a fair amount of movement.

Or perhaps it's not a porblem if Libba and Wallis are F/S and Picken is elevated and Hudson and Johnson go around form at least another year.

Regarding list management, when you look at that we have several players to replace on the senior list, with Wight, Skipper, Akermanis, O'Shea, Lynch, Stack and possibly Eagleton all not guaranteed to be at the club next year. With this years supposedly "weak" draft, which rookies to posters see as being worthy of a promotion. Picken is an obvious one, are there any others though?

Personally I would imagine only four of the above mentioned players would be de-listed, with Picken taking one spot and Stack being given another season. Another possibility though could be to switch Stacks spot around with a rookie. ie. Promote a rookie and de-list Stack, only to rookie list him later like Hawthorn did with Garry Moss.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but Jamason Daniels, Liam Picken and Chris Ogle all get another year as rookies. All those 3, obviously Picken is going very well but JD is one to watch. He's struck down with injury at the moment but I'm confident he can develop into a good player - very pacy.

Of the remaining rookies - John Shaw, James Mulligan and Henry White - a lot will obviously depend on how they perform this year, and unfortunately neither of them have been able to break into Willy senior side as yet.

Personally, I like Henry White and hope he is kept on. He has pace, is well balanced and is developing a defensive side to his game. Shaw is a work horse ruckmen in the Hudson mould - I like how hard he works when the ball hits the ground and his tap work is also very good. With Hudson reaching the twilight of his career it could be a good idea to have Shaw up our sleeves.

Mulligan is a tough one - he hasn't played all year until the last 2 weeks. He was pretty bad last week but much improved this week. He's athletic and is already huge, can take a big mark and hoofs the ball a mile. What he lacks is football smarts and a fantastic work ethic. It'll be interesting to watch his development this year....

I don't think its a problem at all that Boumann is having to earn his stripes - he's still got a long way to go as a player and its more important he gets game time at this stage.

Its up to Boumann to knuckle down and get himself promoted through hard work, so that when he does get promoted he stays up.

The boy has some talent but he's still a longshot to make it to AFL level

BR, the comment I made is in relation to promotion from reserves to seniors. Still has away to go for AFL level.
