It's a shame they changed the rules on us. Imagine if we had Alex Rance, Ben Reid and Ayce Cordy all with 3rd Round picks. Then Smedts, Wallis and Libba this year with 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks.
That's potentially a great list.... Part of the reason why Geelong are so strong is that they reaped the benefits before the rules changed.

Young Lachlan (who is still only 15) played his first game for the Jets this weekend and kicked the winner with less than a minute left.

Brilliant! A 15 year old playing Jets is an achievement in itself.

Yep great effort considering it was only their 2nd win for the season.

That on the back of his game the week before for Willi Colts where he kicked 13 goals beore being taken of at 3/4 time!

Heres a quote from a very good player at the Western Jets, made this week......."I did the contesting stuff with Lachie Hunter.....he smashed me!".

The player in question is not in the habit of getting "smashed" by anyone!!!! L.Hunter did have a few centimeters on him though.

Unfortunate but true, Hunter is displaying a "Too cool for school" attitude at the Jets recently, and his form in the practice matched certainly doesn't warrant it. Too much time in the Rehab group showing off taking stupid shots for goal while his teammates are busting a gut on the track; and the worst..after being taken off with an injury would prefer to have a muck around with mates 30meters away from the huddle that take an interest and listen to what the coaches have to say. Very disappointing attitude.

I hope you're right, I really do. But the kids standing and listening to the coaches were all around that age as well. Lachie's got time on his side to change his attitude but natural ability will only take you so far.

There's plenty of blokes running around in lower leagues with more natural ability than your average AFL player.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Mitch and Tom need to have a chat with him about the level of professionalism required at the junior level, perhaps?

Sixteen years old and we are happy to pot him based on an Internet report.

Hmmmm. Not sure I find that overly palatable.

Having Mark McVeigh as your cousin and idol is a bad start, but his Dad was as grounded as any player going around. Hopefully this is just a perception of him at the moment.

Very true, but at age 16 not everyone is going to act like a professional athlete or fit the same mould. Hopefully it's just a phase, because at the end of the day once you're in an AFL system it obviously requires a very focused mindset to get the best out of yourself. If he becomes an AFL player he's got a lifetime of hard work and dedication ahead of him, so I'm not overly concerned by this report at this stage (besides the fact it appears he didn't dominate the internal game, having 40 touches and kicking 10 goals! ).
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?
