Re: The 2011 draft and trading thread
Trade week set to be full of stories
THE meat market that is AFL trade week is here, and so Sportsnewsfirst has laid out a few of the likely storylines that are set to dominate the frenetic week.
TRADES THAT SHOULD HAPPEN
Mitch Clark to Fremantle – despite late interest from West Coast, the Dockers remain in pole position to secure the services of the Brisbane big man.
Jaeger O’Meara to Gold Coast – GWS will weigh up the bids for the pick in the mini-draft that every club wants to use on the WA youngster. The Suns’ offer of pick four in the major draft is likely to be enough by Thursday's deadline.
Ivan Maric to Richmond – A while in the making, the Tigers look set to secure their desired big man.
Steven Morris' to Richmond – Another involving GWS, the formerly contracted Morris can be on traded by the Giants – and will be.
Marty Clarke to Collingwood – highly rated before he returned to his homeland, the rangy Irishman looks destined to return to an already powerhouse club.
TRADES THAT COULD HAPPEN
Jack Gunston to Hawthorn – the Crows youngster who was unfairly stripped of a Crows award after telling them he wanted out wants to go to Hawthorn. The unhappy Crows will listen to other offers though.
Luke McGuane to Brisbane - Not a headliner, but McGuane reportedly wants to get home to Queensland.
Brad Ebert to Port Adelaide – the Eagles rarely lose players – Chris Judd being the obvious exception – but this SA midfielder wants to continue the family legacy at Port Adelaide. Expect some serious horse trading before this deal goes through.
Jonathan Griffin to Port Adelaide – looms as an intriguing trade week battle. Griffin would not be averse to a move back to SA, but new Dockers Ross Lyon sees him as a required player. Griffin has also been mentioned as a potential piece in the puzzle to get Mitch Clark back to Perth.
Tony Armstrong to Sydney – Has had his troubles at the Crows, but the Swans are renowned for getting the absolute best out of anyone, and Armstrong has plenty of upside for a side who have lost some senior soldiers.
TRADES THAT MIGHT HAPPEN
Tom Lynch to Adelaide – Few chances for this St Kilda forward could see a move – with the Crows needing back-up for Kurt Tippett.
Daniel Motlop to anywhere – Motlop wants out of Port, but he did last year and ended nowhere. His desire is a return to WA to be closer to his son, but neither West Coast or Fremantle are likely to be interested.
Brett Peake to Fremantle – A favourite of Ross Lyon last season, and a well-liked player when he was at the Dockers it seems a perfect fit. What the Dockers would have to give up is the issue.
TRADES THAT WILL BE TALKED ABOUT MOST
Brendon Goddard to Carlton – It would be the biggest trade since Fevola moved out of the Blues, and Brett Ratten’s club are definitely interested. But they will have to give up a big bounty to get one of the AFL’s marquee men.FFC: Established 1883

Re: The 2011 draft and trading thread
Absolutley!
Hence why you would't trade Howard for Gunston.
People are talking about his overhead marking as a major deficiency, Id be more worried if he couldn't kick or was slow...Comment

Re: The 2011 draft and trading thread
It looks like Brisbane are pushing to recruit Luke McGuane from Richmond. He's a reasonable 3rd tall, but not sure I'd want him due to his questionable kicking skills.

Re: The 2011 draft and trading thread
I dont think he knows how to use his pace yet, but he's also had some OP issues hasn't he? so perhaps he physically hasn't been at his best yet.
Cant see us looking to move him on - thought he was promising in the vfl grand finalComment
