Re: Round 3- Williamstown vs Coburg
Stringer's going to be a very unique player. Quick enough and strong enough to not be out-bodied by the bigger KPF's, and too strong for medium sized KPF's.
He's a unit now, but I'd say he's got about 4KG of muscle to put on, and about 4kg of body fat to get rid of. Once he does that after a preseason or two, and is a few years into his career we'll have a player to build a forward line around.
This guy's the real deal.
Glad to read the positive feedback from posters about Grant and Vesz as well. I thought they were both very dangerous when they had ball in their hands from what I saw on the coverage. Vesz's finishing was a highlight, and if you look at the photo in the article about him this week, you can see why. His goal kicking is poetry in motion, especially the foot curl after contact.
MacRae was excellent, and once he tightens up his ball drop and left foot swing (which is currently geared towards helicopters) he'll be an absolute weapon. He'll be one of those players that you just can't tackle, not because of his strength however, but because of his step or by standing still at the appropriate time.
I though, apart from an absolute abortion of a turnover Howard showed better defensive ability and one of his kicks in-board over 50m when running towards the boundary was all class. He seemed to fight an not get beaten easily, though not sure how he looked up close.
Agree with the poster who said it seemed like it was all Bulldogs at one stage. Our younger players look very well selected.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Re: Round 3- Williamstown vs Coburg
Just watched the game
Stringer, well what can you say I loved his footy smarts as well.
Macrae's a very clever footballer, he made a few mistakes at the end but he's a real find
Vezspremi was excellent, you look for his work ethic as we know ability wise he's to good for this level.
Grant was okay, if only he had Stringer's intensity and appetite.
Williams was good early but faded obviously due to match fitness.
Howard, besides that horrid kick was reasonable but he has to be doing more.
Pearce, loved his attack on the ball thought he played well.
Talia , very good solid backmen, but that kicking has to improve if he's to become a very good AFL defender.
Austin and Markovic were solid, but are depth players for mine.
Tutt played well like to see some more games at AFL level.
We're already seeing a lopsided comp and its only going to get worse next season.
Real issues for Bendigo already and you'd imagine Coburg who are skint are really going to struggle. ( 16 tiger players today)Comment

Re: Round 3- Williamstown vs Coburg
Remi, agree with your thoughts on Tutt. I think he's ready for some exposure at league level again.
Howard does need to do more, it would have been interesting to see how he fared after half time if Coburg didn't go to shit.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Howard I agree along with J Grant have to be intense at every contest.
It's a non negotiable under any coach if he's half serious.Comment

Re: Round 3- Williamstown vs Coburg
I really did think Howard showed an appetite for not being beaten today. I've always thought his hardness wasn't an issue, more so his efforts one out concerned me and he seemed to show today improvement in that area.
Grant did enough to not be dicked around by being played in the second Willi team, with one more game of reasonable output I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing seniors. I know we'd like to see him offer more consistent effort when playing, but I don't think we've got anyone on our list that is as creative with the ball in hand coming through the ranks as he is. The kick from his run through the middle to Stringer was pin point and thoughtless (due to instinct and skill), while there were other plays where under contested situations with the ball on the ground he stuck a hand in to put it to his advantage or that of his team mates that only an AFL standard player could. He's clearly good enough.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Re: Round 3- Williamstown vs Coburg
I thought he was just average. Once again decision making and skill execution wasn't his strong points.

Regards Wood, Yeah definitely.looks a bit ahead of Campbell.
On disposal in general, I'm hoping the wind was stronger than it looked - Grant and Howard make a mockery at times of their claims for a top spot with their kicking. You don't develop courage by being happy in your relationships every day. Re: Round 3- Williamstown vs Coburg
Checked out some of the game on iView - Stringer looks a fair way off AFL level fitness-wise, but by god is he a natural player. Once he's match fit he's going to be super for us.
5th pick of the draft is sometimes the best player
Macrae is ready for senior AFL action now. Far too good for VFL.
I do like the look of Vez, but he'd have to be competing with spots with Gia, Dickson & Higgo. He does have pace as a burst player as a point of difference though.
I thought Pearce was better than "steady", would slot into the AFL team if need be. I imagine B-Mac would like the way he plays, seems to play "for the team" if that makes sense.
Williams looks like he needs to regain touch, but moved well and got to the right places.
Thought Grant's work off the ball was better than in recent times. He's only ever going to be icing on the cake if he makes it at AFL level, not a natural play-maker.
Don't think our tall backs are putting much pressure on Roughy & Young to hold their spots.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment
