    Re: Our VFL side

Collingwood have a mix largely made up of ex-TAC kids and VAFA players. They're not VFL journeymen.

SP, think we're on the same track that the VFL side should be used to teach the senior side gameplan, but i don't believe it should contain a vast number of players with extensive VFL or other state league experience. That's where i think we differ.

A extended list of around a dozen names made up largley of young players from the TAC Cup and surrounding suburban leagues would eb more beneficial imo, especially if we can have them training and learning our gameplan under our noses - we may just unearth a Picken/Morris type.

Just don't see the point of teaching journeymen our gameplan and having others miss out on gametime, who're not on our primary or rookie list, but could be with an eye to the future.

I think that is what we're aiming for (20). A mixture of recently retired AFL players, kids who missed out on the draft and the rest local players (potentially 6-8 locals).

That's the mix ill be looking for. Think it'll be very important to get our "senior" VFL listed players right. Prismal, Cross and maybe Gia would be a very good start.

I like the idea of a Gia to coach & Cross to captain combo. They both know what the club is trying to achieve in terms of playing style & direction.

Agree, but I think Cross has indicated he wishes to play on.

From what I hear, he has all along. The issue is that the coach doesn't necessarily agree with him.

He might be looking for a new club if that's the case.
Imperative we have our batch of kids playing next season, and not have 3 or 4 players retire at once.

Yes we have to manage the departure of Murphy, Morris, Boyd after Cross and Gia.

Without reading every thread on here , will footscray have a reserves team or under age teams as well?

And how will it work with top up players?

No, just one team. They will have to recruit top up players

Yep. They top up with local players and TAC cup kids who missed being drafted.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
