What are you doing at the moment?

As a child of the 80's and 90's I used to love nothing more than getting a fistful of 20 cent pieces and going to the Arcades. I was rubbish at them, but I loved it.

A few years ago I came across a program called MAME which emulates old arcade games for PC's. One thing led to another and I built an arcade machine for my brother in law for Christmas. He was blown away, but I didn't have the heart to tell him he was just the test case - I made all the mistakes and learnt all the lessons making his. That being said, it still turned out pretty well.

So at the moment, I'm in the process of figuring out a program called HyperSpin that works as a frontend, or a shiny link up process for the clunky MAME program, but geez it's hard.

I know very little about computers and programming, and there's all sorts of programming stuff required to run this thing. It's driving me mad.

Anyway, end rant I guess. What's your hobby? What's chewing up your free time?

In my spare time I like to fight fires and shoot arrows into home made targets ... wait ... sorry, that's not me.

With my work I don't really get a lot of spare time, and what I do get is normally engulfed in family goings-on or watching footy. But that's fine; I love my lot in life.

When I do get time to myself, I am actually in the process of writing a series of children's books. (Currently looking for a publisher who is will to take a gamble on an unknown, part-time writer).

Scraggers, have you tried Allen & Unwin? They have a thing called the Friday pitch where you can submit a section of manuscript and some information and they will have a look at it. You can find a link on their website.

(Disclaimer: they are my publishers and I've always found them really lovely to work with.)

That guy sounds awesome. Except for the fight fires in the spare time thing. Why wouldn't you get paid to do it?

I don't think you need a disclaimer when you're being generous. What do you write?

I've written ten kids/young adult books.

Right at this moment I'm supposed to be writing number 11 but WOOF is a good distraction.

I'm a bit of a footy tragic in my spare time.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Love my music, play the guitar and recently bought a new ukulele. It's a small instrument but tons of fun.

I work two jobs (one full time, one casual) and am studying post-grad part-time. Add 6+ weekends away each year with music festivals and two overseas trips per year, I'm afraid I can't remember what free time actually is.

I took up circus classes a couple of years ago (my bro-in-law refers to it as clown school!), with a focus on aerials - static trapeze, tissue and ring. It's recently been narrowed down to just static trapeze and it's hard work (great for upper body strength) but lots and lots of fun. I have more fun at playgrounds these days than my four year old nephew does!
Wake me up when we get to heaven, let me sleep if we're going to hell

Good luck, for your sake I hope heaven and hell are really there, but I wouldn't hold my breath

And we all found heaven - 2016 Premiers!

We have some talented people on this board. Well done to publish so many.

yesterday I saw a First Dog Cartoon on the front page of The Guardian Online.

Actually, I think I knew that - have you mentioned it here before? Congratulations BTW.

Oooo exciting maybe my son has come across them. He's 6 what do you think too young? If you elaborate I'll look out for them...

In my spare time I'm a star gazer. I have a large 1.5 metre long by 40cm wide telescope and I've been trying to hunt down a galaxy called Centaurus A from my backyard. The light pollution of Melbourne makes this particularly challenging. My life is one of sleep deprivation unfortunately. I'm a member of the astro society of Victoria and every now and again I drive to their dark sky site near Heathcote for some real star gazing.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.
