Re: What are you doing at the moment?
I love my charcoal Weber, have had one for a very long time. Best way to roast and grill with all the fat dripping down. Threw in a couple of Spatchcocks last night and done within 45 minutes or so.
With the charcoal, just close off all the vents, and put the lid on and close the vent as well and soon it will cool down. You will be able to reuse the charcoal pieces that are left.
Just on the charcoals, I was only kidding about throwing them over the fence! There's heaps of stuff online and the instruction booklets are amazing if you read them
I was wondering how reusable the coals are, do you just rotate some fresh ones in each time you use it?TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

I've never cooked spatchcock. Will be giving a turkey a run sooner rather than later as well.

Re: What are you doing at the moment?
Tell you the truth I haven't been able to get what I really want. I just use the standard ones for roasting (Heat Beads), but for BBQ without the lid, I use the Redheads Charcoal. Don't ever buy the homebrands ones as they don't work.FFC: Established 1883

Re: What are you doing at the moment?
Not sure if it was swine flu but could of been. I am today feeling a lot better compared to earlier in the week. The cough is still there but is not that bad anymore than what it was."Footscray people are incredible people; so humble. I'm just so happy - ecstatic"Comment

Re: What are you doing at the moment?
Hammering home my sense of manhood by knocking over a Laphroaig Tripple Wood, after successfully completing my first evening of kettle BBQ'ing.
Picked up a Weber One Touch Gold yesterday, and had some folk over for dinner tonight. On the menu was pork spare ribs for starters with a nice spiced rub, rib-eye (basted with a mustard and vinegar number) with roasted potatoes for mains and a caramalised pineapple thing for dessert (I hate warm pineapple, so I went straight to more red wine).
It all went well. The smokey flavours were great, and as a gas grilling man as a rule I didn't think I'd pick it up as quickly as I did. It was bloody great.
Didn't know how to cool the BBQ down, so figured I should just throw the charcoal over the fence and let the neighbours deal with it. No biggie
I've got a bottle of Lagavulin at the ready too, love an Islay when the moment takes me.Western Bulldogs: We exist to win premiershipsComment

Re: What are you doing at the moment?
To this point I've not had the time to dedicate to slow cooking (over three hours) on low heat or smoking brisket, ribs or anything else for that matter and am still a novice. The only advice I would have is read the instructions thoroughly, follow them, and fine tune from there.
I've had moderate to good results on beef, lamb and turkey, while my partner (after sorting out the temperature) did well with some chicken when I let her be the driver for an afternoon.
Vegetables have come up quite well, though potato can get a bit gritty if not wrapped in foil.
The Lagavulin will go perfectly, I need to add a bottle of the 16 year to my collection.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment
