On what basis is an all rounder meant to address any of our issues aside from filling the gaping hole in Australian Cricket's heart that it can only fill with a sweet fix of that next promising all-rounder?

Stoinis injured an ankle against Victoria and won't be bowling for a while.

His number for the last 3 Shield seasons are also terrible

His argument is, an extra bowler gives the quicks a break during the test.

The problem is we don't have a world class all rounder.

We don't even have a Pacific class all rounder!
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

The counter to that is that if the batsman stayed around longer the bowlers wouldn't be batting as early as they do and would get a longer break between innings.

I get Warne's perspective but we simply have to make more runs so any all-rounder selected needs to be a strong batsman

Which should be hard to find since we struggle to find good batsmen without the need to bowl.

On the other hand our bowlers have performed about as well as our batsmen so maybe it makes no difference.

RE: Finch he isnt an opener. Doesnt even open for Victoria. Im not convinced he would work at 4 at the National level but he would do better there than at opener.

There pressure is on him more than just about anyone else at the top of the order. The question is - who would replace him? Would CA partner Harris in his second test with someone inexperienced?

In reality though Finch is an inexperienced test player.
I guess CA could have either retried Renshaw or looked at Burns to partner Harris.
Khawaja might also have been an option to partner Harris.

There are probably no easy answers.
