    Re: Nba

Kerr is 100% right. One mass shooting is too many, yet America continues to accept them as the price of their ‘freedom’.

I’m definitely not one to argue for more government intervention or control but our response to Port Arthur will go down as one of this country’s best political decisions.

I know there are many factors at play with the US and it’s mass shooting problem (their inherent individualist ‘don’t tread on me’ mindset is a big part of it). Columbine was also a catalyst and inspiration for sick, disenfranchised people to wreak havoc and unlike us, the US didn’t respond anywhere near strongly enough. That lack of response (at the time and since) combined with increased mental health issues and a healthcare system that doesn’t provide enough support, social media growth, break down of family units, political division etc, it has paved the way for the massive rise in school shootings since 1999.

But many of those factors above (aside from the US mindset) are present in countries across the world that don’t have shootings over and over.

The main difference is the sick people who are driven to kill are able to access guns way too easily and live out their dark fantasies in real life.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

NBA Finals start tomorrow morning our time.

      Who have we got?

I'm rooting for the Celtics in this one. I like the balance of their play, Williams' D is great to watch and Tatum seems like a genuine guy who is a rising star. Smart is DPOY and can guard anyone too.

I like Curry and Klay is a good story but I'm kind of ... sick of the Warriors.

      Should be a great series.

There are few things I respect about John Howard but that makes it to the top of the list for sure.

The US are now treating mass shootings like natural disasters.

Nah, I'm not sick of it. GSW are a rare team, they've built their own cornerstones rather than go out and buy it. I admire their coach so much, little known fact: Kerr was penned to coach Seattle if the sale of the Kings went through. The big one is GPII is returning for G1. I respect their team so much and the Celtics have enough trophies anyway so Warriors for me.

Edit: Forgot to mention I love Smart as well. Defensive stud and someone who leads by their presence alone.

It's a funny one, I should like the Warriors - much respect for Kerr, Curry, Dre, Klay ... but for some reason I don't like the team.

Maybe it's more I hated San Fran the area.

I hate Boston. Racist fanbase, Bill Simmons getting paid millions by Spotify to talk about how good Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam are, boring to watch, overrated jerseys, made Bill Russell sad, etc etc.

Golden State are lame but this is a much more tolerable version than the one with KD.

One thing I love that both teams are built not bought. True team basketball is starting to win in this league not dodgy superstars manipulating behind the scenes to stack the deck in their favour.

I haven’t been able to watch too much of the playoffs, and despite having much respect for Jaylen Brown and Tatum, nobody wants Celtics fans to be happy, so hoping for Warriors in 7.

                    Re: Nba

Wow. That was a basketball master-class by the Celtics in the 4th. Defensively switched on and didn't miss anthing in the 4th. I don't expect White and Horford to go off like that again this series but I don't expect Tatum to be that off either. A nice pinch for the Celtics.

That was a great game to watch, exciting swings.

                        Al and White were massive!

                        Thrilling comeback in the last.

Game 2 looking like it's done, unfortunately.

GSW killing the Celtics with pick & roll.

Great game 3 by the Celtics.

About to take a 2-1 lead.

Draymond ejected again - guy plays hard and I respect him for that, but can't say I'm a big fan of him (although he sounds like a decent guy off the court).

He fouled out, didn't get ejected. It's all 3 or nothing for GS, Boston interior defence was terrific. Getting Williams out there for extended run sure helped them a lot.

Bit of shenanigans before the game. GSW ring was 2 inches higher than it should be. Normally I'd say just an error but not in Boston. That was fishy

                                Williams is a beast.

GS look too small and Poole has shat the bed so far.
