Almost every summer or winter touring team used to have one or two youngsters who would get a gig. Now it's maybe twice a decade we see it; Cummins and Green.

I just don't see that happen very often these days. Debutants of 28 to 32 years of age seem to be the more common thing today.
Whilst it's great to see Scott Boland get reward for his perseverance; he's not the future, he's just the now.
Tanveer Sangha probably fits the bill. 20 year old legspinner that has performed well in his first 2 shield games and in the big bash. Early days but one to watch.

Agree he looks a prospect who clearly the selectors have eyes on, given his inclusion in recent T20I touring party.
I wonder whether he's being groomed as more a white ball bowler than red?

Uncapped Queensland fast bowler Mark Steketee has been called into Australia's squad for the upcoming Test tour of Pakistan, replacing the injured Michael Neser.

And another uncapped paceman from Queensland, Brendan Doggett, has been named on standby for the series.

Tanvir's bowled well in last couple of Shield games, looks to have very good control, and I think the selectors need to get him into the Test squad as soon as possible. He looks the kind of bowler that would do well in Indian conditions especially.

Has anyone ready about the youngster in Tasmania Nivethan Radhakrishnan who bowls both right arm and left arm spin?
He is playing on the game against NSW

Bats in the middle order as well.

Yes I have read about him previously. He made a good point - why does he have to tell the umpire (who informs the batsman) which arm he is going to bowl with if the batsman can change his stance and switch hit with no announcement?

Yes, looks an interesting prospect too.
AS per Axeman, I don't understand why batsmen don't have to reveal they're going to switch grip but a bowler does. The rules don't seem to be keeping up with new capabilities of the modern cricketer.

It's a good party trick for T20 but I'm dead against batsman switching their stance in longer forms of the game.

I tend to agree, but then again judicious use of a reverse sweep has found it's place in the modern long format as an effective countermeasure to slow bowlers trying to dictating the line.

Watched 10 min, switched off. That kind of pitch is what gives Test cricket a bad name.

An interesting dynamic being played out I think, from some insights I heard on the radio today. The theory goes that as the first tour at home against Australia the local cricket authorities thought it would be better to see the first test result not largely determining the course of the entire series, essentially making the following two tests live.

I guess the question comes down to whether the money is pooled between stadium operators and broadcasters, or whether each is responsible for their own revenue streams. It's probably the latter, and if that's the case I understand why they might want to make the first test a dead rubber knowing you're definitely going to sell it out - without being sure of whether you will the next two.
                                TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.
