It's almost a shame it has to end like this.

    A remarkable final.

Magnificent final and the perfect antidote to the disgrace from Saturday night.

This has been the best world cup final and overall world cup in my lifetime. Just amazing.

Martinez save in the last minute of extra time was immense. Ridiculous save, he won them the cup in the end.

I still don't know how he managed to save it. It was almost impossible.

The Golden Glove is the weirdest trophy I've seen for a while.

It was a great final. France chose the wrong players to start the game. They were a different side after half time. Pity it had to go to penalties.

The step of having a golden goal is too much, so while it went to penalties I'm still grateful for an amazing game.

France were gutsy, Argentina brought the quality. It was just awesome.

                  That was an epic final.

Fitting that the best 3 players in the world, Messi, Mbappe & Modric, led their teams to the podium.

                    Insanely good.

France looked to their youth to get them back into it and eventually it was their downfall with the younger guys maybe not holding their nerve.
Everything that's great about the game there.
                    Happy for Messi.

                      So you're saying it's Giroud's fault?

A goal feast and fitting final, action packed all the way.

Happy for Messi and Argentina who haven't won since 1986.

Not, at all. But I don't recall them having a shot on goal in the first half. They looked so much quicker after the substitutions and took the game right up to Argentina who were on the back foot thereafter.

Maybe there is no answer to this quandary. Playing 9 a side during extra time? But then people will say the World Cup is not the "Fitness World Cup"!
Was the first penalty a bit soft/a bit divie?

On the field it's hard to argue with that. Glad Argentina won and happy for Messi to add the WC to his trophy collection. Morocco and Croatia great stories too.

Let us not forget Qatar made it a shitshow offield in an attempt to buy international goodwill. Aside from any homophobic stuff (which is not their heritage or culture BTW historically Muslim and esp the Ottoman Empire were far more accepting and homophobia was more of an import from Western countries) they did use actual slaves who died as part of their preparations. I say this not because I want to sour the actual WC but because I think it's a good way to remember the hosts which can be separated from the actual on field events.

I look forward to an African or Asian country winning the Cup one day.

1000 people died in industrial accidents building those stadiums - a real disgrace of a country.
