VIC vs NSW is an unreal game. Vics have had 3 players subbed out, 2 with Covid and a dubious concussion decision.
NSW 4 for 79 chasing another 154 to win.

Vics one wicket away from a historic win and NSW need another 70 runs.

Great win with an inexperienced lineup and losing 3 players during the match.

Couldn’t come against a better team either!

Renshaw goes early and misses his chance to consolidate on his outstanding form.

This is the last round of Shield Cricket until Feb which is a shame.

Matt Short is in some sort of form at the moment. After a huge BBL he hit a Marsh Cup ton and now in the Shield game v SA 70 from 69 balls in the first innings and currently 105 not out from 119 in the second dig on a pitch that's favouring the bowlers.

Will we see him in green and gold soon for an ODI or T20I?

He's certainly in a rich vein of form plus he's a handy bowler. A T20 or ODI selection is very likely.
It was his first Shield century.

Campbell Kellaway is a classy batsman and his dismissal today was courtesy of a sensational catch from a full blooded pull shot.
Maxwell was out bowled on his 2nd delivery playing a big shot. After such a long absence I don't get why players aren't prepared to try and get set.

Very tough wicket to bat on - the Vics posted a photo on social media before the start of play on day one and it looked horrendous. I think he'll be in the T20I convo, but his main success has come at the top of the order - which is where most of our players seem suited.

Young offie Jack Sinfield took 3 wickets today for QLD. He probably needs a nickname but nothing is overly evident.

The young quicks got the job done for Victoria after Matt Short's heroics, defeating SA within 3 days.

Interesting to see they are attempting to get Peter Siddle to return to Victoria next season to guide the young pace bowlers. With Pattinson retiring and Boland in the test squad I guess it's not a bad idea so long as he's not limiting the opportunities of the younger guys too much. The plan appears to be to then transition him into coaching.

I don't see a lot of sense in bringing Siddle back as a player given how well the younger quicks are performing but if it is more of a mentors role then great.

Hindsight call but Sutherland should have made the squad to go to India at the expense of Morris, especially with Green under an injury cloud. Things just seem to happen with Sutherland, with both bat and ball and in all formats. He's also a very competitive cricketer and would have embraced the challenges on Indian pitches in both disciplines.

Adam White who I rate with his cricket knowledge was pushing Sutherland forward. I don't think he is quite strong enough yet with his batting or bowling.
