No, could not find a way to get them. Instead went to the world cycling championships next door at Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. Hadn't seen track cycling live before, was a good experience. Unfortunately the cycling finished at the same time as the Celtic game so the tiny nearby train station was chaos.

Thankfully got to attend Hearts v Kilmarnock at Tynecastle Park on Sunday. My Dad's cousin is a Hearts season ticket holder. On the downside it was a 0-0 draw, but still was great to attend.

3rd round, Hibs v Aston Villa, overnight, our time. 5:nil. Some Pom clown scored a hat trick. Is the comparison AFL:VFL and EPL: SPL generous towards Scot footy ? My soccer aficionado mates say yes but Hibs winning the Scottish Cup after 114 years in the same year we won the flag, 2016, after a mere 62 years, makes Hibs special and it has the best song. All 'dogs supporters, otherwise unaligned, should be Hibs supporters.

Yep. I spent 2 years in the Old Dart following 'Spurs. It's beyond me why there aren't MORE riots at the footy.

They can't sell alcohol at the football in Scotland so that probably helps!

That can't be right. Supporters of Irish extraction denied their right to "refreshment" at the footy ? Even at AFL/MCC/Docklands extortionate rates, we don't cop that.

Hibs Manager, more accurately former Manager, Lee Johnson sacked after 3rd loss in first 3 rounds of SPL. Appointed in May last year, had a strike rate of 38.5% with 20 wins 8 draws of 52 games. Not much patience in British soccer.

I read that and that Arnold is interested, Fox Sports. Other media mention other British candidates. 5 Managers since Stubbs ‘ 2016. Bev’s had it easy.

                    Arnie turned Hibs down apparently.

Thanks. I wonder if he considered he’d be on a hiding to nothing. Hard on the heels of Postocoglou at Celtic, expectations would be high on another Australian National Manager taking on its Edinburgh equivalent and Hibs have been very flakey outside of its wins against the Andorran and Swiss clubs in Europe. Former captain David Gray has stepped a few times between managers and had short term success.

Hibs chalk up first win for the season against fellow celler dweller, Aberdeen and it looks like Nick Montgomery from Mariners will be appointed manager.

Montgomery appointed, compensation paid to Central Coast Mariners. Next 2 games are against Kilmarnock and St Johnstone, both fellow cellar dwellers. Opportunities to advance from 10th spot. Martin Boyle scored from a penalty in last week's Socceroos 2 - 2 draw against Mexico.

As is painfully obvious, I know precious little about soccer, let alone Scottish soccer. During the week, I ran into a Rangers supporter. He said that Scottish soccer is a harder game than that played souoth of the border, more manly, less finesse. I ran that past a mate of mine who is right into soccer, is critical of the A League and the Scottish influence on Australian soccer. He said that Scottish Soccer is played on pitches that are below the standard of European / EPL pitches and there isn't the money to put into development. Further that a lot of young Asutralians wind up in Scotland where their development is hindered by the beatings they cop on the pitch. Any comments from my betters ?

Sack the Coach ! That's a cry familiar to AFL devotees. Hibs did it, bye, bye Nick. Next game ? 3:nil against Motherwell. Toss your hat in the ring, BOD.

Update to the scores, nae, thousands, of Woofies hanging out desperate for SPL news. The big news is that Hibs have appointed Dave Grey, skipper and final goal scorer in the 2016 Cup, perennial interim coach, to full status, which might mean a tenure far shorter than even that of McCartney. Congratulations to The Bhoys on their 43rd Scottish Cup. Last night, cycling along Heidelberg Road, Fairfield in my Hibs shirt, a bloke in a car screamed out his support for Rangers, which didn't hold back on the F adjective. He turned off to go to Dan Murphys, I decided it'd be better to keep riding.
