We say that and it maybe the case but it is working. He is putting Bumrah off his game. No one else has up the top of the order.

I love it. Entertaining. Skilful. Taking them on without fear, playing his own game. Go get them Sam.

Yeah, i thought he brought out the ramp to early but he's unsettled the whole team. Hard to be too negative.

Maybe this is the future of test cricket.

            Loving watching it.

This is a great over so far, Bumrah not sure what to bowl to him. 18 off the over and he moves to 45

It's either selfish or incredibly stupid selection by the selectors.

Can’t agree. That is the way he has played since coming into first class cricket. The selectors know his talent and currently there are no alternative options. The selectors obviously thought that given the current struggles up top of the order let’s see how it goes. Nothing to lose. I would say more bold than stupid selection. It is exciting- it ain’t necessarily what I like to see but it is working. It is the way of (most) modern cricketers.

Did a lot better than I thought he would. Hopefully he can go on and make a name for himself in test cricket. 60 on debut is no mean feat

Great debut from Sam Konstas. Great first test innings.

Same. Thought he struggled early against Bumrah but then he changed his approach and it worked well today. Won’t always work but it is definitely an approach that has a lot of positives. Has also helped Usman as well.

I've watched some decent size samples of his Shield batting and ramp shots early on hasn't been as evident as it was today. Good luck to him but as quick as many will be to heap praise on him when it works it's going to attract as many critics when it doesn't. We have had a brittle batting order and and we need stability at the top of the order.
There is quite a contrast between McSweeney straight bat and conservative style and the
                              Konstas approach

Can't agree with you G, I think it's the way things are heading and a little bit of disruption isn't a bad thing.

Take the shine off the ball, stop the bowlers getting into a rhythm, and entertain us at the same time !
