    Re: NFL Discussion

If it was an unconverted throw the play would have been terrible the fact it was an intercept rendered it a disaster!

The Browns seem to have a real Sonny Weaver running the show, originally swapped pick two down to pick eight and now down to pick sixteen .
The have have gained several future picks.

        Re: NFL Discussion

I came across this story on US news. Apparently Cleveland had a good player trade all but done and just had to send an email to the NFL confirming the trade for McCarron with 5 minutes to go until deadline. Plenty of time. The email to the NFL was drafted while they were apparently all mightily congratulating each other, only thing is that they didn't hit 'send' during this congratulating on the email though and so the NFL refused the trade!

        usatoday.com (basic story)

Former Alabama star AJ McCarron, who has spent the majority of the last three seasons as Andy Dalton’s backup in Cincinnati, nearly switched teams in Ohio at the NFL trade deadline Tuesday – but McCarron missed out on becoming a Browns QB by a matter of a few minutes.

With the trade deadline set to expire at 4:00 p.m. ET, the Browns and Bengals put together a last-minute deal that would have sent McCarron to Cleveland.

McCarron had been targeted by Browns coach Hue Jackson in the summer, and with rookie DeShone Kizer floundering on a winless team, McCarron would have likely stepped in as the new starter. Unfortunately for the Browns, the team didn’t formally approve the trade with the NFL by the deadline, despite agreeing to the deal with the Bengals.

As a Steelers fan, I’m more than happy for the Browns to suck forever. But that is amateur hour and speaks volumes about an organisation that struggles year after year.

Unfortunately missed Whatley’s call I bet it was 10 times better than channel 7.

So happy for Eagle fans and another fantastic story. What a sack by Graham. But my favourite has to be the rookie kicker Jake Elliot wanted to be Lleyton Hewitt growing up and ends up a hero.

It was a great kick-he iced it. Perfectly placed by the receiver as well. He even had time to spin the ball around so that the lace was facing outward.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

                    If Bont played NFL....

Justin Fields broke the all-time regular season rushing record for a QB today against the Dolphins - 178 yards, including this rushing touchdown plus a lazy three passing touchdowns. And they lost!

Incredible run and an incredible athlete. He really will be the benchmark for all future QB recruiting

                        Re: NFL Discussion

30 odd years ago, thanks to Don Lane, I got to watch an NFL running back named Barry Sanders, who was so exhilarating that he turned me on to the NFL and made me a Detroit Lions fan. What I didn’t know was that Barry was a siren. A beautiful myth, who called me in only to have me crash on the rocks of the Detroit Lions history of ineptitude. I got to watch them make an NFC Championship game in 1991 and then be largely embarrassing for the last 20+ years. However on Monday I will be able to sit at home and watch them play their first home playoff game since 1993.
As a Lions fan, you’re always waiting for the other shoe to drop, so heartbreak feels inevitable, but the recent rebuild and subsequent success has been easily the most exciting time to be a Lions fan since Barry. The game on Monday is rife with subplots but I hope to just enjoy seeing the Lions fans go berserk for a home playoff and accept whatever comes.

Also hugely recommend the recent doco Run Barry Run on Amazon Prime for context on both Barry and the Lions. The highlights of him playing are worth it alone.

Yeah - the Lions have been set up with this Rams match-up and the combination of the Stafford return + Goff attempted revenge tour. I'm pulling for you mate but this must be giving you nightmares.

It’s either gonna be a continuation of the curse or one of the great curse busters of all time. I kind of wanted this match up to be honest. Campbell has instilled a different mentality in this team. They may not win it but they’ll fight, for sure.

As for your Steelers, Tomlin is a fricking wizard. Give him 53 guys off the street and he’d drag them to a 9-8 record.

                                Re: NFL Discussion

I know next to nothing, well nothing about nfl but i turned the tv on today and it was kansas vs miami and it looked very bloody cold. People even had signs re the weather. Weather site said it was -19 but feels like -29!!! F*** me.

Next thing i'm on the chief website which had this advice for match goers:

Guests may carry in blankets and portable chargers and non dry cell batteries to power heated apparel.
Warming stations will be located throughout the complex.

That's seriously next level fan dedication attending these matches in my book.

Also noticed one bloke get a touchdown and then gave the ball to his wife. Is this normal procedure??
