I got to watch them make an NFC Championship game in 1991 and then be largely embarrassing for the last 20+ years. However on Monday I will be able to sit at home and watch them play their first home playoff game since 1993.
As a Lions fan, you’re always waiting for the other shoe to drop, so heartbreak feels inevitable, but the recent rebuild and subsequent success has been easily the most exciting time to be a Lions fan since Barry. The game on Monday is rife with subplots but I hope to just enjoy seeing the Lions fans go berserk for a home playoff and accept whatever comes.

Also hugely recommend the recent doco Run Barry Run on Amazon Prime for context on both Barry and the Lions. The highlights of him playing are worth it alone.
Geez underdog, following Detroit and the dogs must really test your character? I remember when i was picking an EPL team my ex said 'for god's sake pick a team that's successful".

But i do love these sporting stories. I don't follow american sport but occasionally see how Detroit teams are faring only for the lame reason that some of my favourite music (motown, stooges) come from that city.

It certainly lived up to the many storyline?s and was a particularly stressful watch. I texted MIA Woofer Raw Toast at the end of the 3rd saying that I felt sick. But they carried the weight of history and won their first playoff game for 32 years. Not sure even Essendon will match that run.

        I love the Detroit story.
But for the fact I've been a 49ers fan since the late 70s.
My late Dad grew up in the bay area and his seeing the 49ers win the super bowl in 82 was akin to how I felt when the Dogs won in 16.

The Nine's were a laughing stock for the majority of their history both pre and post AFL-NFL merger.
If the 49ers don't win, I want Detroit to do it.

9ers and Lions could well be the NFC Championship game.

Surely Detroit can't stuff it up at home this week? That was a great game against the Rams and could have gone either way...ultimately I guess you go back to their redzone efficiency early in the game with both backs scoring TD's and that was the difference in the end...

I mean, it’s the Lions, of course they could. But the Rams are a better team than the Bucs, so you’d hope not. Was impressed with Goff’s efficiency. The pass defense will be the thing that kills us if anything. Our CB’s suck.
I expect Tampa to blitz as often as they did against Philly given how well it worked. Our run game is much stronger though so that’ll be a point of difference from the Eagles. If we can keep Goff clean and give him a pocket, we should beat them.

Baltimore look unstoppable. It must be a defensive coordinator's nightmare trying to stop their offense. Jackson's ability to extend pass plays and be a genuine running back is terrifyingly beautiful to watch.

It's risky though. Without Lamar you're immediately and effectively down 2 x-factor players.

My Niners are in a tough game against GB. Rainy weather.

What a win by the Niner's.

Did not play at their best, but finally got their act together on their final drive when behind 21-17.

Eat 6 minutes and drive 60 yards and score the TD. They would've liked to have left less than a minute on the clock. Luckily Dre Greenlaw's 2nd pick put an end to a GB miracle.

I love my Niner's, but I have been all aboard Detroit's revival.
                          Will be a great game.

I actually think we're half a chance against the Niners, particularly if Deebo doesn't play. However, I'm also certain that any of the 3 AFC teams left will hang up 50 points on us in a SB (maybe not the Chiefs, but their D is elite).

I also have to work next Monday, so not sure whether to go radio silent and watch it "live" or just follow it as much as I can and cope as well as possible.

What a great weekend of NFL football - the purists have always said that the divisional round is the best weekend of the playoffs, and it lived up to that. Three nail biters and Baltimore flexing their muscles to establish themselves as favourites to take home the Vince Lombardi trophy.

Championship Weekend often has 1 blowout and 1 close game.

I am hoping the Ravens end Mahomes run and eliminate the Chiefs 27-10, and the Brock Purdy magic runs out with the Detroit defense forcing him into multiple turnovers, and Lions eliminating the 49ers with Jared Goff driving the length of the field to set up a field goal as time expires to win 19-17.

Surely San Fran remember how to play football this week...sorry Underdog but I just think they are better than the Lions. Samuel's status must be a concern.

Mahomes has some kind of voodoo magic...they fumble it away through the end-zone and give BB the ball back...wide right (again). Even when he's watching from the sideline he can't be beaten. Do not bet against him.
