I don't disagree. It's not a high likelihood, but I can see a path to us winning. Especially if Deebo doesn't play. SF would need to be as bad as last week and we'd need to get pressure on Purdy. I don't think it will happen, but I also didn't think the Dogs would ever make a GF.

Supporting the Bills is basically just supporting the dogs at this point, why did I do this to myself.

Ah well all in on the Ravens now, please no more KC

        Re: NFL Discussion

        Hey bad luck Underdog.
I didn't get to watch the game, was at work and just kept an eye on score via nfl website... I thought you were well on your way when 17 points up.

So now my team the Niners get to play against my son's chosen team the Chiefs.

If the Niners play their first halves like they did against the Lions and GB, they will get spanked by the Chiefs. I think if the Chiefs and Mahomes play to the level they're capable of, they probably win it anyway.

The Niners will have to bring their A plus game. On paper it looks like San Fran should win given their talent across all of the skill positions both offense and defense. Although their secondary depth can be exposed. Beyond Charvarious Ward, the other corner Ambry Thomas and Lenoir look a bit flaky to me.

Mahomes just finds a way to win too. If the Niners D line can't get pressure on Mahomes quickly, I just think he might be able to extend plays long enough to expose Thomas and or Lenoir at pivotal moments. Thomas especially has shown he's prone to giving away pass interference penalties.

I love watching these Niners play. They have dynamic players all over the field and on both sides of the ball.
Samuel (who will play), Aiyuk, McCaffrey, Kittle, Juszczyk, Purdy on offense. And Bosa, Armstead, Warner, Greenlaw and Ward on defense.

Adding McCaffrey to the lineup just really unlocked the whole offensive playbook for the Niners. You have a genuine receiver in Samuel who is also able to excite as a genuine runner of the ball in certain situations, and in McCaffrey you have a RB who can also play as a genuine receiver on downs. The blocking ability of Juszczyk the FB is sublime, and Kittle is a weapon both as a receiver, but also for his blocking ability too.

        Go Niners!.

Was absolutely gutted. Like 2021 GF levels of devestated.
When the ball bounced off our CB’s face mask into the 9er WR’s hands for a huge gain, I just knew what was coming after that.

Is the pricing that crazy though? Only 65-70K seats for one of the biggest sporting events in the world v 100k seats to the AFL grand final that nobody outside Australia cares about and you would be paying +$2k if you were trying to get a ticket a few days before the game.

A friend of mine just got back from a US trip with their family. His only comment is "$500"...as in, everything costs $500.

                  Empire State building (2+2)? $500.
                  Basketball?? $500.
                  Space Centre?? $500.

                  etc. All 2 adults + 2 kids.

The world's gone crazy...the joy I had in the US when everything basically seemed 'free' in comparison to Australia...no longer it would seem..
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I went to a lot of events in the US over 5 visits and it always struck me as fair value.
I can recall walking to the top of the Calgary Winter Olympic Village and paying I think it was $40 to bobsled down the same track as the Olympians used and it was an exhilarating experience. Ice Hockey in Calgary with decent seats was about $30.
I went to a preseason NBA game in Vegas once Lakers vs Suns. The ticket was $30 and a 'drink and a dog' $5.
Even going to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville a few years back and seeing 4 first rate performers was just $70. I went twice

People will pay up for a quality experience and the Superbowl as always will be a another massive event.

                      Calgary is in the US?

I went to the US on my honeymoon in 2011, Aussie dollar was almost at parity to the USD so it was a great value trip. Unfortunately the NBA was on strike at the time and we were never in the right place at the right time for the NFL so had to settle for NHL at Anaheim. From memory it was no more than you would pay for decent seats at the footy. I can imagine that things would have skyrocketed since then.

                          Re: NFL Discussion

In 2017 ex-partner and I managed to purchase an Aspen ski trip someone we knew won in a competition for $5K, it included lift passes for four days and a lesson, accommodation and flights. Apparently it was worth $10K, the person who won it couldn't go. We decided to tack on New York to the trip (the 29 hour non-stop transit home NYC-LA-SYD wasn't fantastic).

The skiing was amazing and were able to have friends stay with us for free (plus I bumped into Will Minson at a grocery store - he helped me look for cooking stock). We got snowed in on our departure day to New York, got a powder day the day following but then had to make our way to Eagle Colorado and fly out from there, and that's when it got super expensive due to the last minute changes and additional skiing and accommodation. All that was a cool couple of grand additional (just saw lift tickets at Aspen are now around $220 USD per adult, which puts our ridiculous $160 AUD per adult to shame).

Had purchased some Knicks tickets but we missed the game, luckily got the $900 USD we paid for those (OK seats, February game) on stub hub.

New York, not even doing much other than seeing a few of the major sites, eating some nice food and staying in Williamsburg was nuts. With the sales tax and the tipping everything just escalates.

Why I'm posting this (outside of moaning about US prices) is because we watched the Super Bowl at an Aspen BBQ joint, where the Falcons were 28-9 up at 3/4 time. Seeing everyone meltdown as Brady and the Patriots ran over the top of the Falcons and being stunned by it was a great experience. The place was rocking up to that point, most left extremely disappointed.

I didn't bother asking how much the overall trip cost us (my ex was the accountant, after all), but I knew what was a good deal turned into a very very expensive two and a half weeks. Appreciate we didn't choose cheap as chips cities/ towns to visit, but we'd have easily doubled our original $5K outlay which wasn't bad work for such a short trip that was largely paid for!
