Good win last night by England. After being bowled out for 171 they were able to bowl South Africa out for 165.

Pietersen will be a loss, going home. Requires a hernia operation.

Not to me, the side is the 11 blokes playing the game. It doesn't really matter who else is in the squad eg. If Krejza did a hamstring I would expect Doherty to be on the next plane to India, not be replaced by someone who is currently in the squad.

The questions over SA's temperament in big tournaments will start to rise again. Hopefully those old wounds will start to open again.

Technically Hussey has been called up to replace Bollinger, but we all know that's not really the case.

This is not going to effect the performance of our team.
Nannes can only be added to the squad in the event of an injury.

If Tait, Lee or Johnson totally loses it and gets smashed in the next 3 matches we will have to fake an injury to someone else for Nannes to come in.

Bit like our initial Ashes squad, and boy didn't that work out like a charm

And he will only be needed in case of an injury. Hastings is there already as the next cab of the rank. It's not hard to fake(or more likely exaggerate) an injury to bring Nannes in.

Is anyone else frustrated by the scheduling of this world cup?

The tournament is being played in 3 countries - so there are plenty of available grounds - yet we only have either 1 or 2 matches being played per night. Australia were washed out on Saturday - and have to wait 8 days to play again. Add to that, that there is over a month of group games - and then pretty suddenly we will hit the quarter finals which are knockouts.

To me it seems absurd. Last time it was absurd that we played groups matches - and then played against every Super 8 side before the semi finals....but this format seems to extreme the other way.

I'm sure there is a better way to run the World Cup.

Either Kamran Akmal is the worst keeper in the world, or he's a match fixer. Those two drops of Ross Taylor were as stinky as they come.

Either way, Akmal shouldn't be anywhere near the national side.

                    Yep.

I had Foxtel put on as the tournament started and thought I would watch quite a few of the matches, but each day I get to watch Kenya v .... or Canada v ..... or Holland v .... and I turn it off.

And to think that Australia won't have finished a game for close enough to 2 weeks by the time their next game comes around is a joke.

Yes I find it strange during tours teams play 7 one dayers in 2 and a half weeks approx but they cant play 2 games in a week here.
One game a night to maximize tv audience maybe??

As ive said earlier, i am a fan of pakistan cricket, but i agree with you here Comrade, that those 2 instances in particular looked very bad. I know he has been looked at before with match fixing allegations, and i would be looking at him again after last night. He is mainly in the team for his batting, but that in itself is so inconsistant, he surely should be replaced. Umar is the stand by keeper and should be used here. The selectors need to make a statement that these types of performances will not be tolerated.

                        He needs to go.
I will never see #16 the same!!

Spot on, plus the occasional double header if there's two minnows to play each other.

It sucks and makes the tournament boring until the last week.

Thought England were going to be on the plane home last night. They're about as predictable as Pakistan! The Windies were cruising & should have won comfortably.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on it - seeing as Ricky is usually very dis-liked on here!

Personally, I think its a non-issue. I will say - I haven't seen the alleged 'hissy fit' - but I don't see why him cracking it is so wrong. Its sport - there's never been a more approporiate place to crack the sh1ts! The same with blokes throwing a bat or two after going out....its a tried and true tradition amongst batsmen returning to the dressing room in disappointment.

                                Don't see the issue.
