Some fine entries folks, most of which read my mind.

Looking forward to charting Dahl's 2019 goal-kicking exploits with no small amount of glee.

He'll probably end up in the forward pocket and be that close to goal get 50 for the season.

They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

What is it with ex-Bulldog players being upset about us booing the plastics generally and specifically? First Leon Cameron, now Gryphone. It's actually kind of nice to know we folk attending these games are being heard by them.

Just when I'm really ready to dislike him he comes up with that! That's a great read.

I don't think he cares who boos GWS. He cared about the supporters of the club he loved booing him. There's a mighty difference.

I hated the way he left, but I don't hold it against him. He did what he did for his own reasons, but he gave everything when he played for us.

That hit home for me too.

                  I hope he enjoys retirement.

He did. While his manner of departure was awkward and rough I've come to forgive other players and coaches after even rougher separations and the deal worked out outrageously well for us landing us Boyd and ultimately a premiership with the coaching changes that came in the fall out. Speaking of the premiership, which I love to do, winning that smoothed over a lot of the rancour with Griffin as well.

I hope he enjoys his footy from now. He really didn't look in love with the game the last couple of years but going back and playing with your mates is a good way to reignite the spark. Especially if you star in a couple of premiership teams while you are doing it!

I've moved on. He copped his whack the year after he left but I really blame McCarthy more than anything.
Would have been nice to explain his side of the story on hwy he left, it was a good article but the most interesting part of his story was very quickly glossed over.

This made me sad. It's one of the great unanswered questions, isn't it? if he'd stayed, would he have become a premiership player too, or did we need that whole cascade of events which started from his defection and ultimately delivered the flag?

I don't think we would have won the flag if Griffin stays. If Griff stays then Macartney would have been still coach and with all due respect to Bmac he wasn't going to be coaching any premiership teams as a senior coach. Things worked out perfectly with a Griff going, it gave us (the true) Norm Smith medallist in Tom Boyd and we appointed the correct coach.
